Today, March 8, we mark International Women’s Day — a moment to recognize the rights of girls and women, reflect on progress made, and remember how far we still have to go.

In other words — just another day for us at Força Foundation.

For nearly 15 years, we have trained football coaches and physical education teachers in 30+ countries, using football to expand opportunities for girls.

At our Center of Reference in Mozambique, 46,000 girls play football with us through weekly sessions that combine sport, health education, and leadership.

99% complete primary school, compared to 58% nationally (UNESCO, 2020).
And while only 31% of girls transition to secondary school (World Bank, 2022), 99% of our players continue their studies.

What began with one team on a gravel pitch now reaches 50,000+ girls each year globally — including in Mozambique, France, Senegal, and other countries — through trained coaches who use sport as a platform for education and leadership.

The NXT GEN Coaches training continues today in Occitanie, France. 🇫🇷⚽

As part of the 4th edition of the program, two Força France coaches facilitated workshops with 13 girls and 8 tutors during the third in-person training session of the season.

Through these sessions on self-confidence and values-based leadership, they are creating spaces where participants can reflect on their values, strengthen their self-esteem, and grow as leaders on and off the pitch.

Led by Fondaction du Football in partnership with Nike and the FFF - Fédération Française de Football, the program responds to a clear reality: women remain largely underrepresented among coaches in football.

Since its launch, more than 300 girls have already been trained, and the goal this year is to reach around 1,000 participants across France.

Last year, girls from clubs across Occitanie in France gathered for the Nxt Gen Coaches academy, an initiative by Fondaction du Football in partnership with Nike supporting the next generation of !

Through the program, participants take part in workshops and training sessions designed to strengthen their , , and coaching and life .

Today, we’re excited to be back for the 4th edition of the program.

Once again, French Força Foundation coaches are facilitating on leadership, self-confidence and values-based leadership — creating spaces where girls can reflect on their values, build confidence and grow as future leaders in football. ⚽

The NXT GEN Coaches journey continues in France.

Last week, we launched the third season in Grand Est.
This week, the program moved to Pays de la Loire.

More than 50 young girls from over 30 clubs came together for this second in-person training, united by one shared ambition: to become active leaders within their clubs and the coaches of tomorrow.

Five of our French coaches led workshops on leadership, self-confidence and self-esteem, creating a space for exchange, reflection and growth.

Coordinated locally by Ligue de Football des Pays de la Loire, this training is part of a national initiative led by Fondaction du Football and supported by Nike.

Region after region, a new generation of leaders is emerging in French football.

🚀 4th edition NXT GEN Coaches — kick-off in Grand Est.
First in-person training of the 2026 season.

Around 20 girls from clubs across the Grand Est region are opening this new edition.

Launched in 2024 by , in partnership with and the , alongside , the Academy has already trained and supported more than 300 girls across several regions.

This program responds to a clear need: there are still too few women coaches in football today. It prepares participants for certification while supporting their long-term development and future pathway.

Força France coaches lead the self-esteem and values-based leadership workshops.

Creating a safe space, understanding one’s values, and daring to act in alignment with them.

🚀 4TH EDITION – WE’RE BACK IN FRANCE!

The NXT GEN Coaches Academy kicks off on February 21, 2026 in the Grand Est region, France.

🎯 Training the next generation of female coaches across France.

This first session will bring together 20 young girls from clubs in the Grand Est region.

Launched in 2024 by Fondaction du Football in partnership with Nike and the FFF - Fédération Française de Football, alongside Força Foundation International, the Academy has already trained and impacted more than 300 young girls across several French regions.

What’s on the program?

💬 Leadership, self-confidence and life skills
🛡 Violence prevention
⛑ First aid skills

At the end of the program: CFI certification delivered by the French Football Federation (FFF).

For this first 2026 launch in France, .0, ._mkf and will represent fora France by delivering the leadership workshops.

🔥 2026 Goal: Mobilize more than 1,000 young coaches across France.

Today is the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Ge***al Mutilation (FGM).

FGM is a harmful practice and a serious violation of girls’ human rights — with lifelong physical, emotional and social consequences.

📊 The reality:�• More than 230 million girls and women alive today have undergone FGM (UNICEF, 2024).�• Around 4.5 million girls are at risk of being subjected to FGM every year, many before the age of 5 (UNFPA, 2026).�• Without stronger action, millions more girls remain at risk.

At Força Foundation, we work on prevention through education.�
By using play and sport as entry points, girls are given safe spaces to learn about their bodies, their rights and their value. When girls grow up informed and confident, they are better equipped to recognise harmful practices, ask questions and support one another.

Ending FGM requires long-term investment in girls, education and community-led change.

Education takes many forms — and it is a fundamental right for all people.

On this International Day of Education, we are reminded that, as stated in SDG 4: Quality Education, education should be inclusive, equitable, and support lifelong learning for all.

Yet globally, around 133 million girls are still out of school, facing barriers that limit their access to education and opportunity (UNESCO, 2025).

At Força Foundation, learning happens on the sports training ground, through volunteer leaders who bring the Força movement to life.

Through our Empower and Education Content Library (EECL), we equip coaches and leaders with practical, real-life tools to facilitate workshops on values and leadership, self-esteem, body confidence, menstrual health, online safety, conflict management, and violence prevention — supporting girls to build life skills on and off the pitch.

As the year comes to a close, we reflect on the that continues every day, with Força coaches and community leaders creating safe spaces for young girls through , , and .

In , the Mutola Cup football league — anchored by our Centre of Reference — reached over 34,000 girls this season.

In France, in partnership with and , the NextGen Coaches programme supported 300+ girls and young women to step into leadership through football.

In other countries including Senegal, Sweden, and Zambia, coaches continued to bring the Força methodology to life in their communities.

This work moves through people — a movement in movement — as coaches apply the Força methodology on the ground, recognised this year with the Award for Sport & Gender.
