We have successfully completed our Paramilitary Chaplaincy training, to God be the glory.
29th November 2025 marks our official passing-out ceremony, a milestone that opens a new chapter in my life and service.
I wholeheartedly commit this new journey to the Almighty God, trusting Him for strength, wisdom, and guidance as I step into this sacred responsibility.
My sincere appreciation goes to all those who contributed to this course; our instructors, coordinators, fellow trainees, my family, and everyone who supported us along the way. Your dedication, discipline, and encouragement have shaped this achievement.
May God bless and guide us as we serve humanity with integrity, compassion, and excellence.

Introducing Dalim Fruits in Sierra Leone; From Makeni, the City of Light, thanks to Muqul Hossain from Bangladesh; Regional manager for BRAC Micro-Finance company in Bombali district.
From the vibrant heart of Makeni, famously known as the City of Light, comes a refreshing addition to Sierra Leone’s fruit basket, Dalim Fruits. Known worldwide as pomegranate, the Dalim fruit has a rich history that dates back thousands of years to the Middle East and South Asia. It was cherished by ancient civilizations as a “fruit of life,” celebrated for its beauty, taste, and healing properties.
Today, Sierra Leone proudly welcomes this superfruit, cultivated and shared from Makeni to the rest of the nation.
Health Benefits of Dalim Fruits:
Strengthens the immune system with Vitamin C and essential nutrients
Promotes heart health by improving blood circulation and lowering blood pressure
Fights inflammation and eases joint pain
Provides powerful antioxidants that slow aging and protect against chronic disease
Supports memory, brain function, and energy levels
The introduction of Dalim Fruits in Sierra Leone is not just about healthier diets, but also about economic empowerment and innovation. Makeni once again shines as the City of Light, leading the way in agricultural diversity and wellness.
Dalim Fruits: A gift of nature, from Makeni to the Nation! 🇸🇱🍎✨

*We Can Fix Africa:* *One Country at a Time.*

Real and lasting change doesn’t always begin in government halls or on political stages, it begins with individuals who decide to lead in their own fields. If you've had the privilege of experiencing how things work in the Western world; systems that function, opportunities that are structured, and institutions that are accountable, don’t just admire it from afar. Come back home. Bring that experience, that knowledge, that exposure, and apply it right where it’s needed most.

You don’t need to wait for a government appointment or a national platform. Start small. Start where you are. Whether it's in education, technology, agriculture, health, construction, or youth development, lead with what you have. These small, consistent acts, spread across our communities, will collectively build the Africa we dream of.

I am not just speaking theory. I am living it.

After gaining invaluable experience at the Latin America Youth Center in Washington, DC, USA, I returned to Sierra Leone and founded YouthBuild SL: a movement focused on empowering young people with skills, purpose, and dignity. What began as a dream is now becoming a household name across the country. Today, YouthBuild SL holds Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC), a recognition of the meaningful impact we’re making on the ground.

And here’s the truth: you can do the same.

Africa doesn’t need saviors, it needs doers. People who see a gap and step in. People who don’t just complain but contribute. People who choose nation-building over comfort.

So, I challenge you: whatever your field, whatever your passion, come back and build. Be the difference. Be the example. Be the spark. One person. One project. One country at a time.

*Together, we fix Africa.*

The transformation stories from YouthBuild SL keep inspiring us!

Meet Osman F. Kamara, affectionately known as Engineer Capon; a young man who once faced life with no hope, no direction, and no skills. But everything changed when he joined YouthBuild SL.

Through our training and mentorship, Osman discovered his purpose, gained practical construction skills, and rebuilt his confidence. Today, he proudly works as a construction engineer with a reputable Chinese company in Guinea!

His journey from despair to dignity is proof that with the right support, our youth can rise and shine, anywhere in the world.

*Empowering the Future: Big Brother Champions Women in Leadership and Entrepreneurship*

Big Brother is once again doing what he is passionate about—leading conversations and events that promote development and empowerment in Sierra Leone. In this instance, he had the honor of chairing a transformative networking and educational excursion organized by eWomen in collaboration with L’appel, a German-based organization.

L’appel is currently sponsoring 16 promising young women who are pursuing university education in Sierra Leone. This excursion, specifically focused on women in leadership and entrepreneurship, provided a unique platform for these students to engage with thought leaders, build valuable networks, and gain insights into the possibilities that lie ahead.

Through his role as chairperson, Big Brother not only guided the flow of discussions but also inspired participants with his commitment to youth empowerment, gender equality, and national progress. Events like these are essential in nurturing the next generation of female leaders who will drive innovation, create jobs, and uplift communities across Sierra Leone.

*The Tailor's Nightmare: A Case for CBET and Entrepreneurship in TVET*

*The Need for CBET in TVET:*
The video above highlights a major gap in traditional Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs. While many tailors learn basic sewing skills, they often lack structured training in:

1. *Accurate Measurement Techniques* – Ensuring precision in tailoring to avoid costly mistakes.
2. *Fabric Management* – Properly sorting and tracking clients' materials to prevent mix-ups.
3. *Quality Control* – Checking every garment before delivery to maintain high standards.
4. *Time Management* – Meeting deadlines to build trust and retain customers.

CBET, which focuses on hands-on, industry-relevant training, could have helped this tailor develop these essential skills. Through *practical learning, assessment of competencies, and real-life scenarios,* trainees become job-ready, reducing errors and improving service delivery.

*The Importance of Entrepreneurship in TVET:*
Beyond technical skills, this tailor lacked basic *entrepreneurial knowledge.* If he had been trained in business management, he would have understood the importance of:

1. *Customer Relations* – Handling complaints professionally and ensuring customer satisfaction.
2. *Financial Management* – Budgeting and pricing to sustain and grow his business.
3. *Marketing Strategies* – Building a brand and attracting more customers through quality service.
4. *Business Ethics* – Maintaining integrity and professionalism to foster long-term success.

By integrating *entrepreneurship* into TVET programs, artisans like this tailor can transform their skills into *sustainable businesses*, reducing unemployment and boosting economic growth.

I will close by stating that;
The problem of this tailor is about bad tailoring, it was a failure of the system that trained him. His experience demonstrates why TVET institutions must incorporate CBET and entrepreneurship training. Equipping artisans with both technical and business skills ensures they can provide quality services, manage their businesses effectively, and contribute to national development.

*YouthBuild SL* and other *TVET institutions* must champion this approach, ensuring that graduates not only master a trade but also thrive as professionals and entrepreneurs.

*More Testimonies of Life Transformation at YouthBuild SL*

Meet James Mansaray, a young man whose life has taken a remarkable turn. James was once a palm wine tapper, struggling to make ends meet. But his story changed when he joined *YouthBuild SL* as a *Building and Construction trainee* through the *Skills Development Fund (SDF) project,* a *World Bank grant facilitated by the Ministry of Technical and Higher Education (MTHE).*

Through this opportunity, James gained hands-on skills, professional training, and the confidence to pursue a better future. Today, he has *established his own construction team,* securing contracts and earning a sustainable income to support his family. His hard work and dedication stand as a testament to the power of skill-based education and youth empowerment.

To those who say the youth are not serious, think again! *Engage them meaningfully, equip them with the right skills, and watch them transform into productive, self-reliant citizens.*

Listen to James' inspiring testimony and witness the quality of his craftsmanship. His journey proves that with the right support, young people can achieve greatness!
