‼️BRIGHT INITIATIVE ACTIVISM AGAINST GENDER BASED VIOLENCE SCHOOL WORKSHOPS CENTERED ON EDUCATING YOUNG PEOPLE ABOUT GBV‼️

Highlight on BRIGHT INITIATIVE of activism on gender based violence on the theme “Unite to End Gender-Based Violence through Awareness Raising in Communities and GBV Education in Schools in Makeni, Bombali District.”

As community based organizations, BRIGHT INITIATIVES is committed to ending GBV through their school workshop tour which is centered towards educating young people about Gender Based Violence, types of gender based violence, it causes, preventions, consequences, legal implications, laws around protection and other areas which will enlighten them about gender based violence and how to abstain from being a perpetrator and also how to seek justice for a victim or if you are a victim.
These trainings help in raising awareness, provide necessary skills for intervention, and foster a culture of respect and safety among students.

The Bright Initiative’s school workshops are a vital tool in the fight against gender-based violence. By educating and empowering young people (Women and girls), creates an environment where everyone is treated with love, respect and dignity, free from any threat of violence.

‼️BRIGHT INITIATIVES’ ACTIVISM AGAINST GENDER BASED VIOLENCE‼️

Theme: unite to fight against gender based violence through awareness raising in communities and gender based violence education in schools.

In light with the organization’s (BI) theme for this year’s activism against gender based violence, BRIGHT INITIATIVES has started a school workshop tour which is centered towards educating young people about Gender Based Violence, types of gender based violence, it causes, preventions, consequences, legal implications, laws around protection and other areas which will enlighten them about gender based violence and how to abstain from being a perpetrator and also how to seek justice for a victim or if you are a victim.

The schools tour and community awareness raising seeks to compliment the 16 Days Activism Against Gender Based Violence in our own little ways which is small but quite vital. Young people are potentially the perpetrators when they grow up, so we want to address this issue from the grassroots in order to mitigate the chances of them being perpetrators of Gender Based Violence.

‼️BRIGHT INITIATIVES JOINED FORCES WITH THE GLOBAL COMMUNITY IN COMMEMORATING THE 16 DAYS OF ACTIVISM‼️

In pursuit of our core values as a community based organization, we are joining forces with the global community in raising awareness about gender-based violence (GBV) on the theme “Unite to End Gender-Based Violence through Awareness Raising in Communities and GBV Education in Schools in Makeni, Bombali District.” This initiative is part of the broader 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign, which runs annually from November 25 to December 10

As we all know, GBV/abuse is a pervasive issue that affects not only individuals but also the broader community, leading to serious social and economic consequences. Everyday children, youths and even adults are victimized at home, schools , work spaces, social gatherings and even in irregular gatherings in our communities; in other to ensure their safety and dignity we need to keep them safe from perpetrators and predators who just want to devour their pride, dignity, and take advantage of their vulnerability.

Everyone of us has a great role to play in ending GBV, as We are members of different communities where these societal ill is prevalent, so we ought to treat this issue with caution. through education, support and joining the campaign. If not, we could be direct or indirect victims.

By uniting together, we can create a world where everyone lives free from violence and abuse.

Let’s stand together and make our world a better place.

Bright Initiatives awarded as the Best Student Organization of the Year.

We are thrilled to announce that our Bright Initiatives has been awarded as “BEST STUDENT ORGANIZATION”by the Department of Development Studies at the university of Makeni (UniMak) during their Second Annual Dinner and Awards Night on the 23rd November 2024. This incredible recognition is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and passion that has driven our mission from the very beginning.

We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to our founder and co-founder, whose vision and leadership laid the foundation for our success. To our incredible team members, thank you for your unwavering commitment, creativity, and teamwork in making our initiatives impactful and meaningful.

Gracing our second annual departmental dinner yesterday 23, November 2024, I was honor with the award of Most supportive male student in my department, and received a presidential honorary award for my contributions to the department and the our student community and for outstanding leadership during my tenure as Head of Debate council in this current executive..!

Tuesday, 12th November 2024, Bright Initiatives participated alongside other youth led organizations and vibrant young people in Port Loko on a Lobbying and Advocacy on the Child Right Amendment, 2024.

The session seeks to address the loopholes and gaps identified in the 2007 Child Right Act, as it is against the backdrop that since the passage of the act a number of legislation have contradicts this act, like the Customary Marriage and Divorce Act of 2007. This why plan International and other partners want to address these inconsistencies through this lobbing and advocacy session.

Constructive deliberation were made and several young people including children made valuable contributions to repeal and replace the Child Right Act of 2007 (Act No 7 of 2007), To make provision for the promotion of the rights and responsibilities of children and to provide for such right as outlined in the United Nation Convention on the right of the child and the African character on the right and welfare of children and to provide for the other related matters. While protecting the best interests of the primary (children), promoting non discrimination of any kind, influencing equality of both sexes, the opinion view of the child, and child representation.

The insights and contributions made revamped energy to librate and empower children form all backgrounds.

All Thanks to Plan International for creating the enabling environment for Bright Initiatives and other young people to this all important deliberation..!
