We were honoured to participate in the Multi-Stakeholder Dialogue Session on Youth-Friendly Health Services, hosted by Rofutha Development Association on 20th May 2026, in Bombali District.
This dialogue session, held under the project "Breaking Stigma: Advancing Youth-Friendly and Non-Discriminatory SRH Services in Sierra Leone," brought together health facility managers, HIV and TB focal persons, frontline healthcare workers, youth leaders, female s*x worker representatives, and community leaders — all united around one shared purpose: ensuring that young people can access the healthcare they deserve without fear, shame, or discrimination.
YAD-SL was represented by our Executive Director Amb Hassan Kamara , who added our organisation's voice to the discussions on improving access to HIV testing, TB screening, malaria treatment, and non-discriminatory SRH services for young people in Bombali District.
A key takeaway from the session was the urgent need to dismantle the stigma that continues to keep young people away from health facilities. When a young person walks through a health facility door and is met with judgment instead of care, the consequences are life-altering. This dialogue was a powerful reminder that change begins with honest, courageous conversations — and a collective commitment to do better.
We commend Rofutha Development Association for their leadership in creating this space and for their unwavering dedication to advancing youth-friendly health services across Sierra Leone. We look forward to continued collaboration.
