From Morocco back to Sierra Leone.

David Alimamy Fornah is proving that the right support can rebuild their lives and become agents of change in their communities.

Through the Micro project of the Migration Desk for Freedom and Dignity, David received assistance that is now helping him strengthen and expand his metalwork business in Makeni. His journey is a powerful reminder that investing in returnees creates opportunities, restore dignity, and promotes sustainable livelihoods.

Every success story begins with a helping hand. With increased support from donor partners and well-wishers, more returning migrants can transform their skills and aspirations into thriving businesses that benefit families and communities.

A moment of faith, compassion, and solidarity.
During her visit to Caritas Makeni, Sr. Christine Garcia, a member of the SSND General Council in Rome, toured the Orthopedic Technical Center in Makeni Sierra Leone to witness firsthand the life-changing services being provided to persons living with disabilities.
Her visit reaffirmed our shared commitment to restoring dignity and promoting inclusion for the most vulnerable. Together, we continue to bring hope and transform lives through love in action.

Building pathways to economic resilience.

As part of the Socio-Economic Empowerment Project, Caritas Makeni is facilitating the formation of Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) among women in vulnerable communities across Bombali District. Through savings, access to small loans, and mutual support, these groups would strengthen household incomes, promote financial inclusion, and empower women to build sustainable livelihoods.

Now I Know My Rights” - A Young Woman Reclaims Her Voice

Before joining the Youths in Politics and Peacebuilding Project, ABIOSEH Williams of the Progressive Youths Group in Port Loko often felt excluded from decisions that affected her future. Like many young people, she lacked the information, confidence, and opportunities needed to participate meaningfully in civic and political processes.

Through training, dialogue sessions, mentorship, and civic education provided by Caritas Sierra Leone Makeni with support from the UN Peacebuilding Fund, ABIOSEH gained the knowledge and confidence to make informed decisions, advocate for her rights, and contribute positively to her community.

"Today, I know my rights. I can speak for myself, make informed decisions, and no politician can mislead me again," she says proudly.

ABIOSEH's transformation reflects the impact of investing in young people. Across Port Loko District, many youths have become more informed, confident, and committed to peace and good governance. Yet many others remain unreached and continue to face the same challenges of exclusion, misinformation, and vulnerability.

With additional support from partners and donors, we can extend these opportunities to more young people, strengthen peacebuilding efforts, and empower the next generation of leaders across Sierra Leone.

The change has begun. Help us reach those still waiting for their chance to be heard.
