👁️💙 Empowering teachers to support better vision and better learning!

CharityVision Sierra Leone has officially launched the Sight Buddies Program in schools. As part of the initiative, two Sight Buddies trainees trained 24 teachers at the FAWE School for Girls on eye health awareness, early identification of vision problems, and referral pathways for students who need eye care services.

By strengthening teachers’ knowledge, we are helping ensure that no child is left behind because of an undetected vision challenge.

Together, we are building healthier, more inclusive schools for every student.

👁️✨ Sight Buddies Program Launch at FAWE School for Girls

CharityVision Sierra Leone is proud to begin the implementation of the Sight Buddies Program in schools.

As part of this initiative, two Sight Buddies trainees successfully trained 24 teachers at the FAWE School for Girls on eye health awareness, identifying vision challenges among students, and supporting referrals for eye care services.

By equipping teachers with these essential skills, we are helping to create a more inclusive learning environment where every child has the opportunity to succeed.

Together, we are working towards better vision, better learning, and brighter futures for children in Sierra Leone.

Today marked an exciting milestone as we conducted our first Sight Buddies Teachers’ Training on School Eye Screening.

Seated together in a circle, teachers from participating schools listened attentively as the facilitator guided discussions on the importance of early detection of vision problems among schoolchildren. The interactive setting encouraged learning, sharing of experiences, and active participation, demonstrating the teachers’ commitment to improving the eye health of their pupils.

Through the Sight Buddies programme, teachers are being equipped with the skills to identify children who may have vision difficulties and connect them with appropriate eye care services. By working together, we are taking an important step toward ensuring that no child is left behind in the classroom because of an undetected vision problem.
