Rising Bread, Rising Women – Mendekelema Women’s Local Bakery 🌾🍞

Today we are proud to share the faces of the first group of women who are coming together to build our community’s own local bakery in Mendekelema, Gaura Chiefdom, Kenema District.

Among them are 15 women who will learn practical baking and business skills so they can produce affordable bread for their families and communities, while strengthening their own economic independence and confidence. This project is led by Youth Empowerment for Sustainability Sierra Leone (YES-SL), but the real leaders are the women you see in these photos.
