Investigative Report: After Sierra Leone's President Took Office, His Wife and Her Family Went Real Estate Shopping by
Sierra Leone’s First Lady Fatima Bio and her family have reportedly invested at least $2.1 million in real estate in Gambia between 2020 and 2024, raising questions about the source of funds. The purchases include four properties bought by Fatima Bio and a $500,000 villa registered under her mother’s name. Her half-brothers have also acquired Gambian properties, contributing to the total. A prominent Sierra Leone government contractor allegedly signed key documents for three of these properties but denied involvement. The first family has not commented on the transactions or the funding sources, despite public records indicating modest means before Fatima Bio’s tenure as first lady.
