NGO WEEK – KENEMA UPDATE

The SHADE Deputy Program Manager and Admin Officer proudly attended the NGO Week activities held in Kenema.

The final meeting for NGO Week was successfully conducted at the YARD Office in Kenema. The session brought together partners and stakeholders to reflect on the week’s activities, strengthen collaboration, and enhance coordination among NGOs operating in the district.

The presence of the Deputy Program Manager and Admin Officer demonstrated SHADE’s continued commitment to partnership, accountability, and community development.

SHADE remains dedicated to supporting collective efforts that promote sustainable development across Kenema and beyond.

Hosting of the first SHADE mini project intervention show in Kavuyama Yawei chiefdom on the 19th May 2025. Present during the event were the Chiefdom Speaker, Head of Section Chiefs, one Board member who chaired the event, Town Chiefs of each of the 12 operating communities and 2 CFMC chairpersons Deputies and SHADE staff. The event was climaxed by project updates declaration of purpose, statements, questions and answer session and presentation of certificate with financial incentives.. A total 71 long bags (shake hand).were handed over to SHADE by the communities. All 12 communities confirmed that the community forests are still intact and sustainably managed. Most of the communities have now raised over SLe650000 with Malema confirming SLe95,000 in their House Households Loans and Savings Scheme (HoLSS).

SHADE Field Update April 24, 2025

Today, Mamie Sam and Sallu Amara, Assistant Field Officers from SHADE, visited Mano Ngieya in Nongowa Chiefdom, one of our active operational areas.

During the visit, they successfully constructed two improved cooking stoves—one at the home of Town Chief Sam Mouguai, and another at the Female Town Chief's residence. The local leadership warmly welcomed the effort and expressed great appreciation for the impact.
