The Disabled and Orphans Children-Sierra Leone Foundation distributes school materials to the less privileged in Bramaia and Khonimakha Chiefdoms
On the 21st of September 2025, the Disabled and Orphan Children-Sierra Leone Foundation successfully conducted a distribution of school materials to beneficiaries in Bramaia and Khonimakha Chiefdoms. The event was held at Kukuna Court Barry and witnessed the presence of several key stakeholders, parents, guardians, and community members from both Chiefdoms.
The program commenced with an opening prayer led by Mr. Bashir Sumah, a parent. Following the prayer, the CEO of the foundation, Mr. Mohamed Dumbuya gave a brief but impactful speech introducing the organisation, its mission, and the generous sponsor supporting the initiative. Mr. Dumbuya also introduced key members of the organisation and gave a background of the support they’ve been providing.
Mr. Abu Bakar Sillah, a dedicated member of the foundation, welcomed attendees and appreciated parents and guardians for attending. He encouraged them to make proper use of the school materials, and announced the formation of a monitoring team that will be visiting schools to assess how the materials are being used and how well the children are performing academically. He emphasised that the foundation's aim is to reduce the burden on families and help the less privileged focus on their education.
Mr. Mohamed Lamin Kamara, another key member of the foundation, emphasised the importance of academic performance among the beneficiaries. Mr. Kamara made it clear that continued support from the organisation depends on the pupils' promotion to the next academic level and urged parents and guardians to monitor and motivate their children to study hard and take their education seriously.
Mr. Sheku Dumbuya, popularly known as Salkrish, a respected disabled community member, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the foundation for their consistent support to the vulnerable children. Sharing his personal experience of receiving help from Sunday Foundation, he encouraged the beneficiaries to remain committed and focused on their education and the vision of the organisation.
Parents also expressed their deep appreciation. Mr. Bashir Sumah praised the foundation for easing the burden on struggling families, especially over the past two years. Another parent echoed similar sentiments, offering prayers for the continued success of the organisation.
One of the beneficiaries, a young girl who lost her parents three years ago, shared her touching story. She explained how she was on the verge of dropping out of school due to a lack of support. "I live with my elderly grandmother but praise God for the intervention of the disabled and Orphan Children-Sierra Leone Foundation." She said. She continued that the support has now changed her life by allowing her to stay in school and continue her education as she is well determined.
The event concluded with words of appreciation from the CEO, Mr. Mohamed Dumbuya, to all speakers, guests, and beneficiaries. A closing prayer was said, and the beneficiaries left the venue joyfully, equipped with the materials they needed to succeed in the new academic year.
