My fellow Sierra Leoneans,
As we approach our Independence Day this Monday, Rural Women for Community Development Organisation (RWCDO) makes a humble and heartfelt appeal to our nation.
We plead on behalf of Zainab Shariff to be considered for a Presidential Pardon under the Prerogative of Mercy.
In this spirit of national reflection and unity, we respectfully call on His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio, Her Excellency First Lady Dr. Fatima Maada Bio, the Honourable Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, the Chief Justice of Sierra Leone, and the Advisory Committee on the Prerogative of Mercy to kindly review her case with compassion and fairness.
Independence is not only about freedom as a nation, but also about hope, dignity, and the opportunity for individuals to rebuild their lives. As a country, we believe in justice but also in mercy, rehabilitation, and second chances.
Zainab Shariff is more than her past. She is a daughter, a sister, and a citizen who still has the potential to contribute positively to society.
As we celebrate this important moment in our nation’s history, let mercy guide our actions and compassion shape our decisions.

Youth Adaptation and SDG Leadership Conference – Sierra Leone
We are proud to announce the successful completion of the first Youth Adaptation and SDG Leadership Conference in Sierra Leone, which brought together passionate young leaders from all 16 districts of the country in commemoration of International Women’s Day.
This historic gathering created a platform for learning, collaboration, and action on climate adaptation and sustainable development. One of the key outcomes of the conference is the establishment of the First National Youth Adaptation Network in Sierra Leone — a youth-led platform that will strengthen climate action, innovation, and community resilience across the country.
Young people are ready to lead solutions for climate adaptation and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). However, we cannot do it alone.
🤝 We are calling on partners, organizations, institutions, donors, and climate actors to collaborate with us and support the growth of the National Youth Adaptation Network in Sierra Leone.
Together, we can empower young climate leaders, strengthen community resilience, and accelerate sustainable development across Sierra Leone.
