With support from the Peace Starts Here Global Movement, YACEI-SL successfully conducted a peace education training for 60 motorcycle riders in Sierra Leone and Liberia at the Bomaru crossing point.

The community level event climaxed the activity where Security, Customs, Military, and Immigration Officers from both Liberia and Sierra Leone were in full attendance.

Major issues discussed were:
-Prevention of all forms of trafficking
-Mutual Understanding between the two sister countries' officers, motorcycle riders, and community leaders to work hand in hand to strengthen security at the border.
-Observing road safety by motorcycle riders to prevent accidents and conflicts among riders from the two sister countries.
-Maintaining effective communication for sharing sensitive security information with the security officers.
Peaceful conflict resolution between the sister countries.

The importance of investing in grassroots empowerment is to build social cohesion for achieving sustainable development goals.

At our 10-year celebration, we had the privilege of hearing from Bjorg Sandkjær, Assistant Secretary-General at the United Nations (UN DESA), who reminded us that the path to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) starts locally.

Her message was simple but urgent: community actors have the answers. They are not just participants, they're leaders in shaping sustainable change.

The next decade of development must be rooted in community-led action. There’s no time to waste. 💪🌱

When there is peace in any society, the people can rejoice together, laugh together, develop together, and above all, bring community cohesion.

After months of our Peace Education Initiative in Bomaru supported by through program, we are still harvesting the impacts after uniting the Town Chief and the Chief Imam. The community has appreciated our efforts again by peacefully electing the Town Speaker.

This is the power of supporting grassroots peacebuilding.

It's with a heavy heart that we raise concerns related to the Yenga community. The crossing points between Sierra Leone and Guinea in the Eastern part of Sierra Leone.

This issue is alarming as community people have migrated from their communities as a result of fear. Farming activities have been disturbed and the livelihood of community members is now challenging. According to the BBC news and reports from Sierra Leone journalists, there is a great concern for security issues between Guinea and Sierra Leone currently at that location. It is intimidating to see Guinean soldiers well-armed, intruding into the nearby community.

Youths are attempting to resist this attempt. This will not be good for our nation.

The past 11 years of civil war left many people damaged, especially women, men, children, and youth. Over thousands of lives were destroyed.

We don't need that in our country anymore.

As a result, we are kindly calling on the governments of Sierra Leone and Guinea to come together and resolve this issue peacefully.

If the land belongs to Sierra Leone, then the Guinea Government should advise its constituents to please maintain peace. The Sierra Leone government should do similarly.

If the land does not belong to Sierra Leone, please let Sierra Leoneans know to maintain the peace of Sierra.

Many thanks and appreciation to SRHR youth fellowship organizers and facilitators.

Girls SRHR empowerment is one of the works of YACEI. Over 60 participants (including relatives) attended the fellowship practicum.

This created a platform for the participants relatives to know the essence of the training for their children.

However, there is a huge gap in the knowledge of over thousands of young girls living in rural communities who have never got this opportunity.

As a result, we are looking for more support.
