We are proud to announce that our organization has been awarded the Global Youth Mobilization Grant, funded by the European Union and the Big Six organizations!🎉

Our project, “Seed for Change: A Sustainable School Garden for All,” will transform education and nutrition in Kailahun. By establishing gardens in five schools, we will empower 300 students, teachers and community members with hands-on skills in organic farming, composting and water conservation.

This initiative will nourish over 2,000 students, inspire environmental stewardship, and create lasting change. Together, we are planting seeds of hope, sustainability and a healthier future for our communities.

Empowering young people isn’t just a goal; it is the solution.

This week, the Alliance for Education and Gender Protection team proudly participated in a-two-day transformative training supported and facilitated by Restless Development under the Youth Voice and Youth Action programme.

The sessions on Youth-Led Research and Advocacy equipped us with the frameworks to ensure young people aren't just heard, but actively lead the charge in data collection and policy influence. From analyzing real community issues to presenting actionable solutions, the energy and commitment to accountability were truly inspiring.

We left with strengthened capacity to champion evidence based advocacy and hold institutions accountable. A huge thank you to Restless Development Sierra Leone for amplifying youth voices. We are eager to apply these skills to drive sustainable change in our communities.

Imagine a world where every girl can learn, connect and dream online without fear. Sadly, this is not the reality for millions. Digital violence is real and it hurts.

During this year’s , we raise our voices to End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls. The internet should be a space of safety, learning and opportunity — not intimidation.

58% of young women and girls face online harassment, with many experiencing it as early as age 9. This growing threat silences voices, limits participation and targets those who dare to speak up.

Together, we can change this. Act now. Stand with us.

Climate change is a global challenge that affects us all, and education is the key to building a sustainable future. To raise awareness among the next generation, our Field Outreach Officer, Augustine Amara , recently engaged students at University Secondary School in Njala Monkonde, Kori Chiefdom.

This important session focused on climate change awareness and highlighted the powerful role women play in farming communities. The goal was to inspire these young leaders to understand the pressing issue and empower them to take action in their own communities.

By equipping students with knowledge, we are planting the seeds for a greener, more resilient tomorrow. We are committed to fostering a generation that is not only aware of climate change but is also prepared to lead the fight against it.

We are proud to have fully participated in the landmark Youth Adaptation Action Day 2025 in Freetown! Under the theme “Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), Youth, and Adaptation,” this event powerfully united 60 young leaders to shape Sierra Leone’s climate future.

For our Alliance, the intersection of climate action, education and gender protection is critical. We emphasized that effective climate adaptation must be inclusive, ensuring the unique vulnerabilities and strengths of young women and girls are central to national policies like the NDCs and National Adaptation Plans. It was inspiring to co-create actionable recommendations with diverse delegates and institutional partners, including the Environment Protection Agency and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.

The 20 co-created recommendations and the proposal for an African Youth Climate Adaptation Network mark a significant step forward. We left empowered and more committed than ever to champion community-led, gender-responsive adaptation strategies.

A heartfelt thank you to Sunrise Movement, the Global Centre on Adaptation, and all collaborators for a transformative day. Together, we are ensuring youth leadership is at the heart of building a resilient Sierra Leone.

🌍 Happy International Day of the Girl Child! 🌟

Today, the Alliance for Education and Gender Protection (AEGP) celebrates the power and potential of every girl in Sierra Leone and beyond. Girls are rising in 2023, 51.1% of NPSE candidates were girls, showing growing progress in education. Yet, challenges remain: only 28% of rural girls attend secondary school, and 30% are married before 18. With the new Prohibition of Child Marriage Act 2024, Sierra Leone is taking bold steps toward gender equality.

At AEG, we stand firm in empowering, educating, and protecting every girl from violence, early marriage, and harmful practices. Together, let’s ensure girls are safe, educated, and heard. Because when girls learn, nations thrive.

Over the past three days, our organization had the honor of participating in Sierra Leone Innovates: Digital Government Summit 2025—an inspiring and transformative gathering held at the Freetown International Conference Center.

This summit marked five years of the National Innovation and Digital Strategy (NIDS), a bold vision to create a smarter, more connected, and digitally empowered public service in Sierra Leone. Under the theme “Building the Skills to Drive Sustainable Economic Growth and National Development,” the event united stakeholders from diverse sectors—young changemakers, tech innovators, policymakers, and development partners—to shape the future of digital governance.

From thought-provoking keynotes to dynamic panel discussions, networking opportunities, and deep dives into digital innovation, the summit has reignited our collective drive toward a more inclusive, tech-forward Sierra Leone.
