Turning Waste Into Beauty

Last week, we carried out a meaningful hands-on project focused on tire upcycling as part of our environmental stewardship efforts.

Our pupils collected discarded car tires from a local garage, cleaned and painted them, and installed them around the cashew seedlings we planted a few months ago.

This simple but powerful project taught our learners teamwork, collaboration, leadership, and creativity, skills they will carry far beyond the classroom.

Beyond the learning experience, the impact is real:
✅ We prevented harmful tire disposal that often leads to air pollution (from burning) and water pollution (from dumping into streams and wetlands).
✅ We enhanced the beauty of our school environment with colourful, functional designs.
✅ We protected our young cashew seedlings by creating durable borders around them.

This project is a reminder that with the right mindset, waste can become a resource, and young people can lead the charge in building a cleaner, greener Sierra Leone. 🌿💪

Nature Club Eco-Quiz Competition 2025 🌿
“Raising Eco-Minds, Inspiring Eco-Actions”
📍
Today, The Green Earth Generation, through its Nature Club organized a vibrant and impactful Eco-Quiz Competition focused on some of the most pressing environmental issues of our time:
Pollution (air, water, and land), Ecosystems, Waste Management, Deforestation, and Climate Change.

The event brought students together in an exciting quiz format that both educated and inspired. The audience wasn’t left out either—many shared their voices during the interactive session and boldly declared their commitment to take action in addressing these environmental challenges.

We’re thrilled to share that many students opted to join the Nature Club after the event, a true sign that the message is growing roots.

Big thanks to every member who contributed to this success. Together, we are nurturing a generation of eco-conscious leaders. Let’s keep the momentum going!

🌍✨ Today, our founder Alphious M Sesay represented us in a District Stakeholder Consultation organized by the Environment Protection Agency (EPA) on Sierra Leone’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) 3.0 and the review of the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP).

The event brought together a wide range of stakeholders committed to addressing climate change and protecting biodiversity.

Our founder proudly represented us at the consultation, presenting on priority sectors for climate change mitigation and adaptation. He also shed light on some of the local by-laws that are helping to preserve biodiversity in our community—highlighting the importance of grassroots efforts in shaping national climate strategies.

It was an engaging, insightful, and thought-provoking gathering. We were also excited to have one of our passionate Nature Club members join in the experience, amplifying youth voices in the climate conversation. 💚

A huge thank you to the EPA for organizing this impactful event. Together, we move closer to a greener, more resilient Sierra Leone.

Today, The Green Earth Generation joined the global community commemorating World Biodiversity Day through its Nature Club at Kabala Secondary School. It staged an insightful presentation at the school’s assembly ground.

As part of our ongoing environmental education initiatives, the event was both insightful and inspiring. Student presenters spoke passionately to their peers about this year’s theme and emphasized practical actions they can take to protect biodiversity in their communities.

🌳 To reaffirm our commitment, all participants took a pledge to protect, not destroy, and to avoid activities that lead to pollution.

🌱 As a symbol of our dedication to nature, we donated five cashew seedlings to the school, which will be nurtured by the school prefects.

Together, we’re shaping a greener, more biodiverse future! 🌿🐝🦋
