Empowering Girls: 300 Adolescent Girls in Moyamba Receive Dignity Kits.

In celebration of Menstrual Hygiene Day, we partnered with relevant Line Ministries, to distribute dignity kits to 300 adolescent girls in Dasse and Fakunya Chiefdoms, Moyamba District.

The initiative focused on girls who are also sponsored children, providing them with essential menstrual hygiene products to support their health, school attendance, and overall wellbeing.
Community leaders and beneficiaries highlighted the importance of these efforts in breaking taboos around menstruation, promoting awareness on menstrual health management, and empowering girls to confidently pursue their education and daily activities.

Through this engagement, we reaffirm commitment to advancing girls’ rights, health, and education, and building resilient communities where girls lead, learn, and thrive.

Today we successfully concluded a two-day start-up workshop for the UNFPA Sierra Leone Spotlight Initiative Project which will be implemented in Manor Dasse and Fakunya Chiefdoms, Moyamba District, respectively.

The workshop brought together key community stakeholders, including traditional leaders, women’s groups, youth representatives, local authorities, community volunteers, and other partners, to introduce the project objectives and foster community ownership from the onset.

The engagement served as a critical platform to strengthen collaboration, build trust, and ensure that communities play a leading role in shaping and driving interventions aimed at addressing Gender-Based Violence (GBV), promoting gender equality, and protecting the rights of women and girls.
Throughout the two-day discussions, participants reflected on the importance of collective responsibility in creating safer and more inclusive communities where women and girls can thrive free from violence, discrimination, and harmful practices. 🇸🇱 Happy 65th Independence Anniversary, Sierra Leone! 🇸🇱

As we mark 65 years of nationhood, we reflect on a journey defined by strength, courage, and unwavering resilience. From overcoming challenges to building hope, Sierra Leone continues to rise powered by the determination of its people.

For Plan Salone, we're celebrating this year’s independence under theme, “From Resilience to Investing in the Future of Girls,” A clarion call for us as an organization to look ahead with purpose. It also reminds us that, the true measure of our progress lies in how we nurture, protect, and empower the next generation especially our girls.

For over 50 of these 65 years, Plan International Sierra Leone, has stood alongside communities, championing the rights of children and ensuring that girls are given the opportunity to learn, lead, decide, and thrive. From classrooms to communities, from policy spaces to grassroots action, we have witnessed the transformative power of investing in girls.

Today, we celebrate not only how far we have come, but also the promise of what lies ahead. A future where every girl is educated, safe, heard, and empowered to shape her own destiny and, in turn, the future of our nation.

Let us continue to move forward together, turning resilience into opportunity, and commitment into lasting change.

💙 Happy Independence, Sierra Leone!
