Milestone Achieved! ✨🌍

As IOM marks 75 years globally and 25 years of impact in 🇸🇱, we proudly celebrate another step forward in protecting and empowering migrants.

IOM 🇺🇳, in collaboration with National Youth Commission Sierra Leone (NAYCOM) 🇸🇱, is delighted to announce that the first cohort of migrant returnees has successfully completed all training classes and assessments of the TVET Training Programmes delivered in collaboration with NAYCOM and the Obasanjo Skills Center within the framework of 🇪🇺EU-funded Migrant Protection Return and Reintegration Programme.

From day one, participants demonstrated resilience and determination to rebuild, reskill, and reclaim their futures. Today, they stand equipped with market-ready skills and renewed confidence.

🙏 Special thanks to the European Union in Sierra Leone 🇪🇺, NAYCOM 🇸🇱, and IOM 🇺🇳 for their steadfast support and cooperation in making this milestone possible.

IOM, in collaboration with WFP and partners of the GOLA‑REAP project has presented the Gender Perceptions Survey findings in Zimmi Makpele Chiefdom, Kenema District.

The engagement organized within the UNPBF funded GOLA-REAP Prject implementaed in Sierra Leone and Liberia brought together government officials, community leaders, and key stakeholders to discuss gender perceptions and challenges faced by communities across the Gola belt.

📊 A key finding revealed that women’s limited access to financial assistance and alternative livelihood opportunities remains a major barrier to their economic empowerment.

The survey also highlighted how cultural norms continue to restrict women’s participation in leadership roles and hinder their equal access to natural resources.

The dialogue created space for reflection and collective action to advance gender equality and promote inclusive, community‑led solutions.
