The Democratic Movement for the Transformational change in Sierra Leone (DMTSL) is being launched today to change this trajectory. DMTSL is a grassroots, nationally-based progressive movement founded on the basis of “Equal Opportunity for All” and with the belief that when everyone is lifted our nation prospers. DMTSL is committed to the following within the first ten (10) upon assuming the leader
ship of our nation:
Setup a commission to review all mining contracts in ninety days (90) and renegotiate these contracts in the first year;
Energy Revolution: Develop and implement a national grid comprising of fossil fuel (oil), non-fossil fuels such as hydro-electric, solar energy and wind power. DMTSL is determined to end all power outages in our nation and create a regular and reliable energy to advance manufacturing and other industrial activities;
Advanced Technological Communication and Transportation Network: An effective and efficient nation-wide communication network using fiber optic technology to promote government and private activities;
Well-planned and efficient Healthcare delivery systems: DMTSL will develop and implement an integrated and responsive delivery system that will provide affordable and reliable healthcare across the nation;
21st Century quality educational system: DMTSL will completely transform our educational system to provide quality, technologically-based and relevant education to our children to be able to compete in this highly competitive world;
Economy and jobs: DMTSL will launch a marshal plan in the second year that will create jobs and pursue economic policies that is growth oriented and diverse. We will not seek any national loans and will move to restructure all current national debts. We will not accept any aid with strings attached, however, DMTSL will be opened to aids which are performance and value-based. DMTSL intends to recapture and sensibly managed the nation’s equitable revenues coming from our renegotiated mining contracts and other natural resources;
Constitutional Reform: DMTSL will convene a constitutional review panel that will be transparent, representative of all facets of our society that will look into strengthening our constitution, advance our young and fragile democracy, rule of law, human and women rights; and
Poverty Eradication: DMTSL is committed and determined to eradicate poverty by year 2028. We plan to start the registration process as a political party in Sierra Leone in October or November 2015.
