The VSLA meetings at Job Street and Old Wharf were successfully conducted this week. The sessions brought members together to review their savings progress, log their contributions, and strengthen group coordination. Seeing the dedication of these women as they manage their collective funds and support one another is always inspiring.

Together, we are building financially resilient communities.

Fictional story, real-life triumphs.

Mamie’s story may be fictional, but her struggles and triumphs reflect the lived experiences of countless widows right here in our communities.

When a woman loses her spouse, she faces unimaginable challenges. But we know that with the right tools, her story doesn't have to end in hardship. At the Jamil and Nyanga Jaward Foundation, we are witnessing the transformative impact that happens when women get access to:

Hands-on skills training
Financial inclusion and literacy
A strong, supportive community network

We firmly believe every widow deserves the opportunity to rebuild, thrive, and create a brighter future for her family. Together, we can turn stories of hardship into stories of lasting hope.

Planning Ahead for Impactful Programmes
The Jamil and Nyanga Jaward Foundation held a productive meeting today with its Chairladies, led by Mrs. Jaward, to deliberate on preparations for two key upcoming events:
🖤 International Widows Day Commemoration – 23rd June 2026
Discussions focused on ensuring a meaningful observance that highlights the challenges faced by widows while promoting their rights, dignity, and empowerment. Venue assessments are currently ongoing, and the official dress code has been agreed as Black and White.
✨ Annual Fundraising Dinner – 20th December 2026
Scheduled to take place at Family Kingdom Resort, this special evening will bring together partners, supporters, and well-wishers to raise funds in support of the Foundation’s programmes and initiatives. The agreed dress code is Ashoebi attire.
The Foundation remains committed to creating lasting impact and improving the lives of vulnerable women and families within our communities.
