*CAPACITY BUILDING ON PLASTIC WASTE MANAGEMENT AND RECYCLING TECHNIQUES*
Livelihood Development for Human Rights Promotion organized trainings for forty (40) young people across the four pilot communities in Sierra Leone.
The training was organized from the 4th -16th January 2026.
The objectives of the training are:
a). To build the capacity of 40 young people in four communities in the Western Rural and urban Districts
b). To Increase the level of their learning on the concept of plastic waste management and Recycling Techniques
c). To transform plastic waste into plastic waste derived products such as Dallets, Baluster, Bricks , Culvert with the view to reduce plastic waste pollution in communities thereby improving economic sustainability, social sustainability, environmental sustainability and improving on the health.
Among the topics covered are:
1. Environmental management
2. Plastic recycling
3. Sources of plastic waste in Sierra Leone
4. Managing plastic waste
5. Plastic sorting
6. Recyclable and non- recyclable materials
7. Weighing of plastic
8. Proportion method
9. Sand weighing
10. Plastic weighing
11. Mixing of sand and plastic waste etc.
Each participant was able to produce a Dallets with different shapes as a demonstration of their understand/learning.

*FIFTY (50) NEEDY CHILDREN SUPPORTED WITH SCHOLARSHIP DONATION IN SIERRA LEONE*
SLAHA-USA though the Hodson Family, Lady Jemma Rodney and
Jehovah Prayer Sanctuary - Headed by Mother June Headley
Donated a total of $ 1000 USD to the most needy children from the United Mission Secondary school and YADO Primary School Cola Tree Calaba town Freetown.
The donation aims at supporting vulnerable children including complete Orphans, out of school Children and female single parents.
Each beneficiary received NLe: 450 new Leones for their school upkeep.
The January 2026 scholarship donation marks 20 years of receiving education support from Trinidad Tobago families through the Kids in Africa platform.
Parents, Guardian and beneficiaries express their thanks and appreciation to the donors and promised to study hard to defend the investment of the donors in their lives and will report back to them with their school report cards with flying colours.

Livelihood Development for Human Rights Promotion honoured an invitation from women and young people of Malosi village Mile 91 Tonkolili District whose main livelihood source is from converting waste shaving from the Miro forestry Company northern Sierra Leone.
These women use waste Forest trees condemned by the company and its wood workshop as an alternative source of energy for cooking as against fire wood.
They are charcoal burners.
However, they are constraints with the skills to engage in sustainable financial inclusion strategy to enhance their knowledge on financial literacy.
LIDFOHRP has successfully trained them on financial literacy using the village savings and loan association model.
Thanks to the team for their commitment and time spent on Christmas day to deliver the training.

*Subject: Beyond the Bin-Production Test Process Completed for the Production of Pavement Floor Tiles* .
The production test for the pavement floor tiles have successfully completed.
The production of 4000 floor tiles have commenced with a total of 300 floor tiles produced today.
See attached action photos.
The products of the pavement floor tiles are from single-use plastic waste materials.
