🏃‍♀️✨ A Day to Remember in Bo! ✨🏃‍♂️

History was made as Street Child successfully hosted the maiden edition of the Street Child Marathon – Southern Region (Bo Edition)! 🎉

It was an unforgettable event that brought together runners from across the world and from all age groups, united by one goal — to ensure every child is safe, in school, and learning. ❤️📚

The streets of Bo came alive with energy, cheers, and colour as participants ran for a purpose bigger than themselves — a future filled with hope and opportunity for every child. 🌍💪

A huge thank you to our partners, volunteers, staff, security teams, media, and the amazing people of Bo for making this maiden edition a grand success! 🙌

Together, we are building a movement of change — one step, one run, and one child at a time. 🧡

🎵 The Street Child Song — A Voice for Every Child 🎵

Today, I’m excited to share something truly special — the Street Child Song, a heartfelt piece that captures the spirit of hope, resilience, and transformation we witness every day at Street Child.

This song is more than melody — it’s a message.
It echoes the cry of children who dream of learning, growing, and building a brighter future.
It reminds us of why we do what we do — to ensure every child is safe, in school, and learning.

As you listen, I invite you to go beyond the rhythm and feel the purpose behind it.
👉🏽 Support the cause. Partner with us. Sponsor our mission.

Your support helps us reach more children with education, protection, and livelihood opportunities. Together, we can turn stories of struggle into songs of success.

🎧 Listen. Share. Support.
Let’s make every child’s voice heard.

Street Child of Sierra Leone Celebrates World Teachers’ Day

At Street Child of Sierra Leone, education remains our core pillar — the heartbeat of everything we do. As we commemorate World Teachers’ Day, we pause to honor the men and women who stand at the very center of our mission: our teachers.

These dedicated educators have been the backbone of our efforts to deliver quality learning to vulnerable children and to strengthen entire communities through knowledge. Today, we celebrate not just teachers everywhere, but especially our gallant teachers — those we have trained, mentored, and supported — who continue to make tremendous sacrifices to reach children in some of the most remote and rural parts of Sierra Leone.

Their resilience, compassion, and unwavering commitment remind us that education is indeed a light that no distance or hardship can dim.
Happy World Teachers’ Day to all our inspiring teachers — you are shaping the future, one child at a time.

In the hidden corners of Sierra Leone, where roads are rough and voices are often unheard, Street Child stands as a beacon of resilience, passion, and perseverance.

Today, we shine a light on Tambaka Chiefdom in Karene District—the largest chiefdom in sierra Leone, even bigger than Kambia District, Tambaka is Divided into Upper and Lower Tambaka, this vast chiefdom was once left behind, unseen by both government and NGOs.

Street Child’s tireless interventions, Tambaka can now boast of education as a growing reality (SCoSL a beacon of light). From training teachers and building schools to supporting families with income-generating initiatives, the impact is undeniable.

In communities like Sanya, Dubaya, kubaya Dongotha, yatiya Gborossor, and yawuyea, where education had never reached before, Street Child is breaking barriers and opening doors of opportunity.

This is not just about schools—it is about hope restored, futures rebuilt, and generations transformed.

Street Child is truly reaching the unreachable.

🌹 In Loving Memory – Francess Esther Bola Williams (Nee Squire)

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear colleague and friend, Francess Esther Bola Williams (Nee Squire), who departed this world on 7th August 2025, at the young age of 30.

Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time. May her beautiful soul rest in perfect peace. 🕊️

Picking Leaves That Keep Falling” – Join Us in Changing the Story

Working with street children is like picking leaves that constantly fall from a tree — just when you think you’ve gathered enough, more fall to the ground. But we don’t get tired. We don’t stop. Because each leaf matters. Each child matters.

At Street Child, we have been working tirelessly — and with your generous support — to tackle the deep-rooted issues that cause children to end up on the streets. Our mission is not just about rescue. It’s about restoration, empowerment, and long-term change.
Here's how your support is helping us address the root causes:

🧺 Poverty:
Many of the children we work with come from homes burdened by extreme poverty. With no income, no food security, and often no parents, the streets become their only option. Street Child provides emergency support, business grants for caregivers, and long-term livelihood solutions to help break the cycle of poverty.

📚 Education:
Education is every child's right — not a privilege for the lucky few. We identify out-of-school children and enroll them back into school, cover fees, provide learning materials, and support schools in underserved areas to ensure quality, inclusive learning for all.

❤️ Reproductive Health (Family Planning):
Unplanned and unsupported pregnancies contribute to the growing number of vulnerable children. We work with mothers, especially young girls, to provide access to family planning information, services, and counseling. Preventing the next generation of street-connected children starts with empowering today's parents.
