The United Nations Country Team (UNCT), led by the Resident Coordinator a.i, George Ammah, today received a briefing on the upcoming Ecowas - Cedeao Summit from Sierra Leone’s Chief Minister, David Moinina Sengeh, during a meeting at State House.

The Chief Minister expressed the Government’s appreciation to the UNCT for its continued support to Sierra Leone and the ECOWAS process. The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss coordination between the United Nations and the Government in advancing the country’s development priorities.

The UNCT reiterated its commitment to supporting Sierra Leone and welcomed initiatives that strengthen collaboration between the United Nations and the Government, bringing both partners even closer together in pursuit of sustainable development and shared goals.

Yesterday at the New Brookfields Hotel in Freetown, the United Nations in Sierra Leone together with the Government of Sierra Leone (through the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development) officially launched Peacebuilding Week and celebrated the 20th Anniversary of the UN Peacebuilding Fund (PBF) support to Sierra Leone ( UN Peacebuilding and Peace Support)

The day featured the inspiring Young Women Shaping Peace Forum, bringing together voices of hope and resilience.

A retreat is only as effective as its facilitator. Deep appreciation to Sharon Munyaka, a senior Industrial and Organisational Psychologist and systems-leadership facilitator with over 20 years of cross-sector experience, whose guidance shaped both the UNCT and RCO retreats last week in Freetown. Her impact was evident in the clarity, collaboration, and purpose achieved.

Following the UNCT’s 2.5-day retreat, the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office in Sierra Leone held its own session. RC Seraphine Wakana urged her expert team to co-create, deliver results, and remain fit for purpose. The Coordination Office supports common programming for Agenda 2030, joint programmes, and broader development coordination. 🌍
