Day 7 of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence
Theme: Ending Sexual Exploitation and Abuse in Communities
Sexual exploitation and abuse remain some of the most destructive forms of violence affecting children, adolescents, and vulnerable women across our communities. It thrives in silence, secrecy, and systems where power imbalances, poverty, and fear are deeply rooted.
Sexual exploitation does not only occur behind closed doors. It happens in homes, schools, streets, workplaces, and even within community structures meant to protect children. Children are often manipulated, coerced, or forced into s*xual acts in exchange for money, protection, food, validation, or survival. Sadly, many survivors remain silent due to shame, threats, and a lack of trusted adults to protect them.
The impact on survivors is life-long—emotional trauma, physical harm, loss of dignity, disrupted education, and sometimes early pregnancy. Families and communities suffer too, as exploitation destroys trust, fuels stigma, and weakens the social fabric that should protect the most vulnerable.
Ending s*xual exploitation and abuse is not merely a campaign—it is a collective responsibility. Communities must stand up, speak out, and protect children from predators who misuse power and silence.
As we mark Day 7, Don Bosco Fambul continues its unwavering mission:
To protect, heal, empower, and advocate until every child is safe, every survivor is supported, and every community becomes a zone free of s*xual exploitation.
Together, we can break the silence. Together, we can end s*xual exploitation and abuse.
