Thank you for an Incredible Youth Camp 2026! 🎉
A heartfelt THANK YOU to all our amazing youth, leaders, volunteers, sponsors, parents, and everyone who played a part in making Youth Camp 2026 an incredible success! ❤️

For six unforgettable days, we came together for a powerful experience filled with worship, learning, laughter, fellowship, leadership, and fun. We created beautiful memories, strengthened friendships, discovered new possibilities, and, most importantly, witnessed lives being impacted and transformed.

Thanks to the generous support of our community, 92 participants came together: 71 inspiring young people and 21 dedicated staff and volunteers. Together, we spent six action-packed days focused on leadership development, mentorship, personal growth, spiritual development, and deep fellowship.

Camp 2026 is almost here!
This Monday, our amazing youth, staff, and volunteers are officially heading to the Annual Lighthouse Youth Camp, and energy levels are high!

Camp, here we come!

TWO ARMED BURGLARS broke into our community center recently, jumping over the back fence to attempt a break-in at our outdoor kitchen.

Sadly, this isn’t the first incident of theft at the Ale Ale House of Hope. Over our years of serving the Kroo Bay community, we’ve often faced the painful reality of items being stolen: money, shoes, laptops, and other electronics; sometimes even by those we serve. These two men were no exception.

Fortunately, they were caught. But instead of turning them over to the police, we chose a different path.
We gave them tasks to complete around the center. When they finished, we helped them shower, provided them with clean clothes and a warm meal, shared counsel with them about the dangers of the path they were on, and then released them.

This is our "why."

Even though they were armed with knives and could have hurt someone, we chose to see past our initial frustration. We saw an opportunity to practice the Christlike love we strive to embody every day.

While we were still undeserving, Jesus showed us radical love and mercy; and that is the exact love Word Made Flesh Sierra Leone seeks to represent.

This August, we're preparing for an unforgettable Youth Camp in Kenema from 17–22 August 2026. Over six days, 90 participants—including 60 young people and 25 staff and volunteers—will come together for leadership development, mentorship, personal growth, fellowship, and fun.

To make this vision a reality, we need the support of our community.

Every Saturday, we welcome around 150 children to a special one hour program that they eagerly anticipate all week long. It's a time filled with learning, encouragement, and hope. At the end of each session, we provide every child with a boiled egg a simple gift that means so much to many of them.

A large number of these children grow up without consistent parental care or guidance, facing daily challenges that become even more difficult during the rainy season.

On May 30, our Good News Club children participated in a lesson on basic personal hygiene and body care. As we spent time with them, it became clear that many lack access to essential toiletries and hygiene supplies needed to stay healthy and confident.

As the rainy season begins, we ask for your prayers. Please pray for God's protection over these precious children, for their health and safety, and for the provision of the resources they urgently need. May this season bring hope, care, and blessings into their lives.

Tutoring Department Parent Meeting Update Report

On 13 May the Tutoring Department held a parent meeting attended by 16 parents. The meeting focused on important issues affecting the learners, particularly punctuality and lateness.
Parents were encouraged to support their children’s studies at home and to help minimize street hawking, as it exposes children to many risks and negatively affects their education and well-being.
During the question-and-answer session, the parents expressed their appreciation for the work being done by the tutoring department and thanked all the tutors for their dedication and support to the children.

At the end of the meeting, a meal was shared with the parents as part of our community fellowship and engagement.
