๐ New Report: Analysis of the Situation for Children and Adolescents in Sierra Leone ๐
The urgent issues facing children and adolescents in Sierra Leone were highlighted in a study released last week by UNICEF and the government of that nation. In order to enhance the wellbeing of Sierra Leone's youth, the Situation Analysis (SitAn) offers a thorough analysis of the existing circumstances and offers workable suggestions.
These results are crucial for determining the future of Sierra Leone, a country with one of the youngest populations in the world, with a median age of 19.
๐ According to the SitAn:
* Nearly 7 out of every 10 children are affected by child poverty.
* Less than 1 of every 10 children are covered by social protection.
* 1 in every 10 babies die before they reach their fifth birthday.
* 7 out of 10 children under 5 years of age do not have a birth certificate as proof of their registration.
* Nearly 2 in 10 children are out of school, and the quality of education is a challenge for those who are in school.
* 9 out of every 10 children experience some form of violent discipline.
* 3 out of every 10 girls marry before they turn 18.
* 2 out of every 10 girls aged 15-19 are pregnant.
The SitAn report is not just a document but a call to action for all the people of Sierra Leone to work together to ensure a brighter future for our children.
Empower our youth, address these critical challenges and work toward a Sierra Leone where all children have the opportunity to thrive. Together we can make a difference!.
