National Youth Leadership Summit The National Youth Leadership Summit is the flagship program of YACAP. We are open to partnerships. At Kenema City, Hotel Albertson.

Each year we bring together young leaders from across Sierra Leone—& beyond—to engage in powerful conversations on the issues that matter most to youth. THE YOUTH AND CHILDREN'S ADVOCACY PANEL PRESENT NATIONAL YOUTH LEADERSHIP SUMMIT AUGUST 12-13 2018

It is said to be the first ever National Youth Leadership and Mentorship Summit organized by the Youth and Children's Advocacy Panel Sierra Leone ( ) in collaboration with the Government of Sierra Leone through the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Partners on the 12-13 August, 2018. On the theme " Safe Spaces for Youth" this Summit was attended by numerous 500 young people across the country and 5 international country representatives as well as stakeholders, ministry department agencies and development partners.

Meet Christiana Kumba Jenneh Kamanda, founder and CEO of Alice Kumba Tonjana Charity Foundation (Kamanda Charity Foundation), Medical Laboratory Technician, aspiring public health professional and entrepreneur.

"In her words" I am truly excited to be part of this year’s Summit because I see it as an opportunity to connect with inspiring young leaders, exchange ideas, learn from diverse experiences, and strengthen my capacity to create meaningful change in my community and beyond.

My expectations from the Summit are to gain practical knowledge, develop new leadership and professional skills, build valuable networks, and learn innovative approaches to addressing community changes.

After the Summit, I intend to share and apply the knowledge gained through my work in youth engagement, community awareness, and the activities of the Kamanda Charity Foundation. I hope to use the experience, connections, and lessons from the Summit to empower young people, strengthen community initiatives, and contribute more effectively to sustainable development in Sierra Leone.

I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of this year’s Summit and look forward to learning, connecting, contributing, and growing alongside other changemakers.

YACAP officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Global Youth Network for Empowerment & Development - Sierra Leone (GYNED), and together we're co-hosting the 9th National Youth Leadership Summit 2026 — right at the Sierra Leone House of Parliament in Freetown, from 27th–29th November, 2026.

This isn't just paperwork. It's a shared promise.
A promise to put young people at the center of leadership, governance, and national development. A promise to create space where youth voices aren't just heard — they shape the conversation. A promise to build something bigger than either of us could build alone.

Here's what this partnership is really about:

* Strengthening youth leadership — because the future belongs to those prepared to lead it
*Meaningful youth participation in governance — not tokenism, real seats at the table
*Entrepreneurship and innovation — turning ideas into impact
*Peacebuilding and climate action — because our generation inherits both the challenges and the solutions
*Civic engagement — active citizenship over passive existence

The National Youth Leadership Summit has always been one of Sierra Leone's most important youth platforms. Now, with GYNED standing beside us, we're making it even bigger, bolder, and more inclusive.

We're bringing together youth leaders, student representatives, civil society, government, development partners, academia, the private sector, policymakers, traditional and religious leaders, and every young changemaker ready to do the work.
