YACAP Concludes Landmark 8th National Youth Leadership Summit

The Youth and Children’s Advocacy Panel (YACAP) has successfully concluded its 8th National Youth Leadership Summit at the Sierra Leone House of Parliament.

This four-day flagship event brought together nearly 300 young leaders from all 16 districts for an intensive program featuring:
✅2-Day Training
✅1-Day Mock Parliamentary Session
✅1-Day Guided Educational Bus Tour

The summit marks a significant milestone in empowering the next generation, directly building capacity for meaningful participation in national governance and decision-making.

Now in its 8th consecutive year, the summit demonstrates YACAP’s unwavering commitment and resilience in fostering youth leadership and democratic engagement across Sierra Leone.

Inclusive Budgeting: Shaping Sierra Leone's Future Together.

Freetown.

The Youth and children's advocacy panel in Partnership with UNICEF Sierra Leone and in collaboration with the African Youth with Disability Network concluded a pivotal 2-day pre-drafting session for "Inclusive Budgeting for an Inclusive Sierra Leone." Bringing together gov't, CSOs, youth, children, adolescents and persons with disabilities, the main purpose is to nature the national budget must reflect everyone's needs.

Key Outcomes:
* Collaborative policy recommendations drafted for the FY2026 National Budget.
* Focus on inclusive education, healthcare, social welfare, and climate-resilient, water resources.
* A firm commitment to ensuring the voices of often-marginalized groups are heard at the highest levels of planning.

This is a major step toward a Sierra Leone where every citizen has a stake in national development.
