FBC FACULTY OF LAW SECURES SECOND PLACE IN ECOWAS REGIONAL MOOT COURT COMPETITION

The Faculty of Law at Fourah Bay College (FBC) has proudly represented Sierra Leone at the 2026 ECOWAS Regional Moot Court Competition in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire, emerging as Runner-Up among 21 universities across Africa.

FBC defeated the University of Calabar, University of Makeni, and University of Benin on its way to the Grand Finale, becoming the only Sierra Leonean law university to reach the final.

Although FBC narrowly lost the final to Ebonyi State University of Nigeria, the team secured second place. Sulaiman Bonnie (LLB 4) also won the Second Best Oralist Award.

FBC was represented by Sulaiman Bonnie and Abraham Lappia (LLB 3) as advocates, with Sarafina Nicol-Sesay (LLB 3) serving on the research and writing team.

The achievement marks a significant milestone for Fourah Bay College and Sierra Leone, showcasing the excellence, dedication, and advocacy skills of the country’s future legal professionals.

AYCEN-SL COMMENCES FIRST PHASE OF CASSAVA STEM PLANTING

The Ambassadors of Youths and Children's Empowerment Network Sierra Leone (AYCEN-SL) has officially commenced the first phase of its cassava stem planting exercise at the organization's agricultural site.

The exercise, held on 1 August 2026, brought together committed members who participated actively in support of the organization's vision of promoting youth empowerment, sustainable agriculture, and national food security.

This initiative reflects AYCEN-SL's commitment to empowering young people through agriculture, creating opportunities for self-reliance, and complementing the Government of Sierra Leone's efforts to strengthen food production and sustainable economic growth.

The leadership appreciates all members who participated and encourages continued dedication as the organization advances to the next phase of its agricultural programme.

Together, through unity and agriculture, AYCEN-SL is building a stronger and more food-secure Sierra Leone.

Every child deserves hope, opportunity, and someone who believes in them. Today, we didn't just visit a community,we shared smiles, listened to dreams, and reminded these young minds that they matter. Together, we can build a future where no child is left behind. Change begins with compassion, and compassion begins with us. ❤️📚🌍

🌍 Inclusion Begins with Opportunity

True inclusion means creating opportunities where everyone can learn, contribute, and thrive. Every person, including people with special needs, deserves equal access to education, skills development, employment, and community participation.

When we remove barriers and embrace diversity, we build stronger communities where no one is left behind.

Let's champion a society that values ability, promotes dignity, and ensures that everyone has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Together, let's build a more inclusive future because inclusion begins with opportunity. 💙♿🌱
