On March 29th, 2026, a truly historic milestone was set in Freetown. We are still filled with immense pride as we reflect on the official launch of the Community Tech Hub—a transformative initiative brought to life through a powerful partnership between the Leaders Hub Foundation , Sport For Empowerment Foundation Sierra Leone, and Friends In Sport Academy (FISA).
This wasn't just a ceremony; it was the beginning of a new chapter for the children and young people of the Kamayama, and Regent Road communities at Lumley. The lab doors are now open, and the space is already buzzing with the energy of students embarking on their digital learning journeys, a testament to the vision we all shared.
The launch event was made unforgettable by our esteemed keynote speaker, Madam Naasu Fofanah, a celebrated author, entrepreneur, gender activist, and former Gender Adviser to the President of Sierra Leone. She did us the great honour of officially declaring the Tech Hub open. In a powerful and moving address, Madam Fofanah spoke beyond technology, inspiring the young beneficiaries with a profound message on the importance of integrity, honesty, patriotism, and civic responsibility. She urged them to seize this incredible opportunity and thanked all the partner institutions for their collective investment in the future of Sierra Leone.
The stage was also graced by other inspiring voices. Ansumana Keita, a lawyer and youth leader, delivered a stirring message on patriotism and giving back to one's community. We also heard from Abdul Kareem JeLa Sesay, a young leader and robotics enthusiast, who captivated the audience by speaking on the immense power of technology and the life-changing potential of the education that will be offered right here in this lab.
This project is a testament to the power of visionary collaboration. A special and profound appreciation goes to the leadership of the Leaders Hub Foundation, particularly Co-Founders Ishmael Sheriff and Alpha Amadu Bah. Alpha, in his dual role as Team Lead and head of the Sport for Empowerment Foundation (SFEF) in Sierra Leone, masterfully bridged the efforts of all partners, providing crucial on-the-ground leadership. The foundational vision and dedication of both co-founders, along with the tireless work of the entire team across all three organizations, is the reason this dream is now a tangible reality for our community. This collective commitment ensures that every single student can access these world-class resources completely free of charge.
Now, nearly three weeks later, the vision has sprung to life. The computers are on, the lessons are in session, and the promise of that day is being fulfilled. This is more than a project; it is a movement to bridge the digital divide, foster innovation, and build a generation of skilled, confident, and community-driven leaders.
Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this journey. The launch was a success, but the real work has just begun.
