Celebrating International Women's Day 2026

This day is meant to celebrate women’s resilience and contribution to sustainable development of society.

This year we will shine a light on one of our beneficiaries.

Juliana Massaquoi Liana Gold is a vibrant young changemaker. One who is passionate about creating change.

In 2023, she benefitted from our training on Advocacy and Leadership through the "Strengthening Youth Voices for Education Advancement in Sierra Leone" project with support from the Global Campaign for Education. Like the other 50 beneficiaries comprised most of students and youth groups reps from across the country, Juliana was eager to learn, network and collaborate for impact.

Today we are happy that she is using the skills gained to champions advocacy efforts to end Gender Based Violence.

This is a reminder that when women are giving the right opportunity and platform, they have the agency to create positive change.

Juliana is currently a final year student at Njala University pursuing a Bachelor Degree in Agricultural Communication and Media.

We are wishing Juliana and all women, a happy International Women's Day.

Meeting | National Protected Area Authority NPAA

Today we had the honor to engage the newly appointed Executive Director of the National Protected Area Authority.

Discussion was centered around our ongoing collaboration for the sustainable protection and management of Protected Areas, with special focus on the Freetown Restoration Project (FreetownTheTreetown III).

🌱🌱🌱The Project aims to plant 100,000 trees. Of these, 20,000 trees will target watershed restoration and 80,000 trees will target wetland restoration. So far, about 50% of the planting have been completed.

The Executive Director of NPAA reaffirms their support for the project.
🤝🤝🤝
"We value partnership. Because we can only achieve so much when we work together. It is a good thing that YARDO-SL and NPAA have a long established relationship. I will ensure we solidify this so we can achieve our collective mission of protecting our environment" Mr Tunis said

Celebration | World Wetlands Day 2026

On this day, we are proud to share our community led efforts to restore the Mayemi mangrove area.

As highlighted by one of the community youth leaders, Peter John Koroma, the planting results are more just than socioeconomic benefits, but ecological benefits too.

At the Community Dialogue, Madam Mariatu Turay reminded us that she has been among the first people to embrace the project.

Why?

Because according to her, the project seeks to address the problem of water crisis, by ensuring that the watershed is protected.
