The Centre for Media and Women’s Empowerment (CMWE), in collaboration with Defence for Children International (DCI), today held an impactful training session on Leadership and Online Safety for Women-Led SMEs at the Africell American Corner.
The training focused on equipping women entrepreneurs with critical digital and leadership skills to enhance their business performance and resilience. Key topics included: Digital Transformation for Women-Led SMEs, Online Safety and Cybersecurity Essentials, Social Media Strategy and Safe Online Branding, Leadership in the SME Context.
In her opening remarks, Mrs. Millicent Kargbo emphasised that the training aimed to empower women entrepreneurs to leverage digital tools for business growth. “In today’s competitive market, branding and strong marketing strategies are no longer optional — they’re essential,” she stated.
Representing DCI, Mr. Julian Sillah highlighted the importance of such initiatives in promoting gender inclusion. “For far too long, women have been excluded from decision-making spaces. Through platforms like these, young women are now being positioned as equal partners in development — a core objective of our SHE LEADS project,” he said, while commending CMWE and encouraging participants to seize the opportunity.
Participants expressed gratitude to CMWE, describing the training as an “eye-opener” that will significantly contribute to their personal and business development. National Youth Commission Sierra Leone
