Today, Youth Against Drugs Sierra Leone YAD, Kono Chapter engaged young people in Resettlement and Majamadu Community in Kono District to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and its impact on individuals, families, and communities.
As part of the outreach, we distributed booklets from Foundation for a Drug-Free World International about the Truth About Drugs, to help young people make informed and responsible choices.
Our engagement focused on prevention, rehabilitation, and encouraging young people affected by substance abuse to seek support and explore opportunities for recovery and reintegration into productive livelihoods.
We were encouraged by the positive response from community members, particularly the young people who expressed appreciation for the message and committed to sharing what they learned with others. We also encouraged those in need of further assistance to seek support from the relevant social welfare and rehabilitation services.
Drug abuse is a community challenge, and addressing it requires collective action, continuous education, and compassion.
We will continue doing our part to reach more communities, empower young people, and contribute to a healthier, safer, and drug-free Kono District.
