We are thrilled to share how our organisation's activities and empowerment programmes ended in 2025. MYCRO and its partner organisation in Norway, called Empathy Norway, successfully organised its 5-day youth empowerment summit on nonviolent communication at the Ernest Bai Koroma University of Science and Technology from the 15th to 19th of December, 2025, in Makani town, Bombali district, Sierra Leone. The course was facilitated by Mr Gert Skoczowsky-Deniesen, a certified Nonviolent Communication coach from Norway. Gert Skoczowsky-Deniesen is a long-standing mentor, friend and supporter of the MYCRO organisation in Sierra Leone.

The summit brought together participants from the Bombali correctional centre, the Sierra Leone police force, the Sierra Leone fire force service, the military, university students, the Makeni city council, the Bombali district council and representatives from NGOs.

Nonviolent Communication (NVC) is a compassionate communication process, developed by Marshall Rosenberg, that focuses on connecting with universal human needs to resolve conflict and foster empathy, using four key components: Observations, Feelings, Needs, and Requests, rather than judgment or criticism, to create understanding and meet everyone's needs peacefully. It's a framework for honest, vulnerable self-expression and empathetic listening, helping people move beyond blame to find cooperative solutions.

Within the 5 days of training, these young Sierra Leoneans learnt the difference between violent communication and nonviolent communication. At the close of the summit, many shared with the facilitator and conveners how this training has helped to change lives and dedicated them to using this principle to change their own lives and society.

Sierra Leone has 16 districts with a population of about 8.642 million people, but we were only able to train 60 youth in Makani town. This first phase has inspired us to convey more of this life-transforming empowerment to more and more Sierra Leoneans, and we are determined and wishing for partnership and collaboration in this matter.

Kindly contact us if this meets your need for nation building and contribution.

At the climax of the MYCRO/Prowibo educators summit at the American Corner, a facility of the US embassy, educators and facilitators shared their take-home experiences and yearned for more personal and professional development courses not only for teachers but also for lecturers of universities. Our deeper relationship with the Registrar of Universities for his unwavering commitment in working with Prowibo and MYCRO in exploring more partnership possibilities with the US embassy, Teaching Service Commission, European Union and the United Nations office in Sierra Leone. We say thank you to all who believe in our efforts towards human capital development of Sierra Leone.

We thank the government of Sierra Leone for making education its first agenda. As an organisation, we are working to complement this effort.
