Climate change is real, and its impact on People With Albinism and Hyperpigmentation is becoming more dangerous every day.
Extreme heat and stronger UV rays increase the risk of skin cancer, sunburn, eye damage, and other health complications.
In Sierra Leone, Africa, and across the world, many persons with albinism continue to suffer due to lack of sunscreen, protective clothing, and awareness.
Sun protection is not a luxury for People With Albinism — it is a life-saving necessity.
We encourage everyone to wear hats, sunglasses, long-sleeved clothing, and use sunscreen regularly when under the sun.
Families, schools, workplaces, communities, and governments must work together to protect vulnerable groups from the harmful effects of climate change.
Early prevention and regular skin checkups can help save lives and reduce cases of skin cancer.
Let us end stigma and promote inclusion, dignity, health, and safety for People With Albinism and Hyperpigmentation everywhere.
Together, we can build a climate-resilient and inclusive society where nobody is left behind.
Watch, share, and raise awareness — because protecting lives starts with awareness and action.

Climate Change has increased the risks of skin cancer and eyesight issues of Persons With Albinism and Hyperpigmentation in Sierra Leone. Stakeholders in the fight against climate change are leaving People with Albinism out in their plans and implementation of projects. This neglect puts People with Albinism, vitiligo and Hyperpigmentation at risks to serious health conditions - skin cancer, sun damage, eye problems and untimely death!!

SLAPWA with the support of its partners will continue to educate and raise awareness about sun protection and the inclusion and protection of our community in all policies and law for a respectful and dignified living in Sierra Leone..
