NMDHR Wraps Up the Pasting of Posters in Schools and Colleges in Western Area Rural Ahead of HPV-MAC Campaign
The Network Movement for Democracy and Human Rights (NMDHR) has completed the pasting of informative posters in schools and colleges across the the North, North-West and Western Area Rural Districts ahead of the upcoming HPV-MAC Campaign, scheduled to take place from November 17th to 23rd, 2025. Among the colleges target were the College of Medicine and Allied Helath Scieces (COMAHS) and College of Theology.
The poster campaign exercise which lasted for two weeks forms part of NMDHR’s broader sensitization effort to raise awareness among students, teachers, and communities about the importance of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination drive spearheaded by the Minstry of Health through the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) and with support from GAVI, the vaccine alliance.
Speaking during the exercise, at Western Area Rural District, the Programs Director of NMDHR, Nabieu Kamara, said the initiative aims to ensure that accurate information about the HPV-MAC campaign reaches young people, especially school-aged girls who are among the primary targets for the HPV vaccine.
“Our goal is to educate and encourage parents, teachers, and pupils to support the upcoming vaccination campaign. The posters carry clear and child-friendly message on vaccine being safe, the campaign dates, girls targeted (11-18years) and benefits of immunization and where to access the vaccines during the campaign week,” said Mr. Kamara.
He emphasized that the posters are strategically placed in schools, colleges, and other learning institutions where young people can easily access the information. He further highlighted NMDHR’s commitment to complementing government efforts in promoting public health education, women’s health, and human rights advocacy.
School and college administrators welcomed the initiative, noting that such visual and informative materials help dispel misconceptions about vaccines and encourage wider participation during immunization campaigns.
The HPV-MAC campaign is a nationwide effort to protect children and adolescents from cervical cancer, ensuring a healthier future for all Sierra Leoneans.
