GADNET Port Loko Holds a Day's Meeting Ahead of the NGS2026

Led by Amb. Sallieu Sankoh, the Girls Advocacy Development Network held a guidance session today ahead of the National Girls' Summit in October.

"We came to support applicants, answer questions, and encourage each other before the deadline".

The NGS is where young people learn, connect, play and make meaningful decisions. We also toured the Plan facility and got inspired.

So apply now https://gadnet.org/events/7 Port Loko must be fully represented!

Plan International joins forces with the Ministry of Youth Affairs, the UN, the World Bank, and the EU at the Julius Maada Bio Conference Center in Lungi to celebrate International Youth Day 2026.

Bright young minds from the Youth Advisory Panel and Greenhouse Youths take center stage, showcasing bold community innovations and leading vital conversations on empowerment and resilience.

These young leaders prove that when given a voice and the space to innovate, youths become the powerful heartbeat driving Sierra Leone’s national transformation.

It started with a simple conversation, followed by laughter, playful moments, and countless smiles. Before I knew it, we were all enjoying the moment together. Days like these remind me that young people don't just need opportunities, they also need people who genuinely enjoy being around them. And perhaps that's why my work never feels like work to me.

As District Coordinator of the Girls Advocacy Development Network (GADNET), I joined other partners at the Port Loko District Council for a consultative engagement on an upcoming project, funded by the Embassy of Iceland.

The initiative will strengthen efforts to advance gender equality, empower women economically, prevent gender-based violence and promote inclusive local governance.

Looking forward to contributing to its successful implementation in our community.

"Today is the first time I have received not only recognition but also lunch." Those heartfelt words from one of our longest-serving teachers reminded us that appreciation can leave a lifelong impact.

Today, Maforki Agricultural Islamic Old Students' Association (MAIOSA) proudly recognised outstanding teachers, pupils, and non-teaching staff of our beloved alma mater with certificates of appreciation, while also providing food, drinks, and water as a small token of gratitude for their dedication and service.

For MAIOSAns, giving back is more than making donations, it is about appreciating the people who make a difference every single day. A reason we proudly honoured the hearts behind our school and celebrated their invaluable contributions.

Just the beginning. Thank you, MAISS!

Grateful for the chance to talk to young people about turning our screens into tools for learning, growth, and impact instead of just distraction. The conversation doesn’t end here. Let’s keep using our platforms to build, not break. Thank you to Lydia Network for this recognition.🙏🏽

Not everything belongs on social media. Every post leaves a digital footprint that can affect your reputation, relationships, and future.

Join LYDIA Network for this week’s webinar as we discuss how young people can use social media wisely and responsibly.
