Before you click “Allow,” take a moment to ask yourself: Does this app really need access? 🤔

At Marigold Initiative, we’re reminding every girl that you have a choice when it comes to your privacy.🌼💛

📱 Review your app permissions.
🔍 Check what access you’ve given your apps.
🍪 Understand your cookie settings.
🔐 Only give access when necessary.

If an app doesn’t need access, say NO. You’re in control of your data. 🛡️

To every woman and girl who is part of this community, your courage, your support, your strength, your curiosity, and your voice are the reason Marigold exists.

What began as a vision to create safer digital spaces for women and girls has grown into a community committed to advancing digital rights, digital safety, and technology empowerment. A growing community of women who believe in knowledge, protection, and possibility.

Hand in Hand, we are building something powerful: a world where women and girls can claim their space online, lead in technology, and move through digital spaces with confidence and safety.

💡🛡️ She turned an earring into a lifeline

In a world still battling gender-based violence, Bohlale Mphahlele, a 16-year-old from Limpopo, chose action over fear.

She invented the “Alerting Earpiece” — a discreet, wearable safety device that looks like a normal earring. Hidden inside is a button that, when pressed, captures a photo of an attacker and instantly sends an alert with live GPS location to trusted contacts and emergency services.

Jewelry on the outside.
Protection on the inside.

Her innovation earned her a bronze medal at the Eskom Expo for Young Scientists, but the real goal goes far beyond awards. Bohlale hopes to refine the prototype into an affordable global safety solution for women and children.

This isn’t just a gadget — it’s a statement:
Youth can innovate.
Girls belong in STEM.
Technology can save lives.

One teenager. One idea.
And a powerful reminder that courage plus creativity can change the world. 💚✨
