05/06/2026

In celebration of World Environment Day (5 June 2026), Rural Women Action for Environment (RuWAE) held an awareness session at Services Secondary School with the school's Climate Champions. The session explained World Environment Day and covered local and global environmental issues, including pollution, deforestation, poor waste management, and climate change. Pupils were taught practical actions such as proper waste disposal and recycling, tree planting and care, keeping surroundings clean, conserving water and energy, reducing plastic use, and encouraging peers to act responsibly.

The pupils engaged actively, asked questions, shared ideas, and made personal commitments to protect the environment.

RuWAE reaffirmed its commitment to equipping youth with knowledge and skills for a greener, more sustainable Sierra Leone.

Today, we celebrate the strength, resilience and achievements of women everywhere.
This year's theme "Give To Gain" reminds us that by supporting one another, we create a foundation for collective success.
