*SLAJ and Artists for Peace to Release Send Am Away: Dreb Kush Song*
The Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ), in partnership with Artists for Peace, is set to release a powerful new campaign track titled ‘Send Am Away: Dreb Kush’. The song will be officially launched on Friday, November 28, 2025, as part of a nationwide effort to tackle the alarming rise of the synthetic drug known locally as kush.
‘Send Am Away: Dreb Kush’ is more than just music, it is a national rallying cry against drug abuse, especially the devastating impact of ‘kush’ on young people across Sierra Leone. Through compelling lyrics and Afrobeat-driven rhythms, the song calls on communities to “send away” the destructive influence of drugs and embrace healthier, more hopeful choices.
The campaign positions the track as both an educational tool and a cultural force in the fight against addiction.
SLAJ President, Alhaji Manika Kamara, said journalists have a responsibility not only to inform but also to protect society.
“This collaboration shows how media and music can unite to fight one of the greatest threats to our young generation,” he noted.
Artists for Peace President, Hassan Daramy (aka Cee Jay), underscored the importance of using creative platforms to reach young audiences, stressing that music can inspire change in ways traditional campaigns may not.
The release comes at a critical moment as Sierra Leone continues to grapple with widespread ‘kush’ abuse, linked to severe health consequences, social instability, and rising crime. By combining the influence of journalists and musicians, the campaign seeks to spark dialogue, mobilise communities, and empower young people to resist peer pressure and substance misuse.
The song will be unveiled on Friday, November 28, 2025, at 9:00 PM across all social media platforms.
Join us and be part of this national movement to send ‘kush’ away for good.
