ONE DEEN GROUP OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED ACROSS THE REGIONS OF SIERRA LEONE.
Alhamdulillah. On the 25th and 26th of July 2026, representatives of One Deen Group from Freetown visited different regions across Sierra Leone to officially launch the Group following the successful establishment of its regional teams on 31st January and 1st February 2026 by the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of One Deen Group.
For the past nine years, One Deen Group has been serving the Sierra Leone Muslim community as an umbrella body for a number of unique Islamic organisations founded by a Sierra Leonean Muslim youth, Mohamed Keita. The vision behind the Group is to develop initiatives and programmes that often receive little attention within society but are essential in building a strong, vibrant, and wholesome Islamic ecosystem where Muslims and their communities can thrive and grow into better servants of Allah.
This regional launch is a testament to years of resilience, patience, and unwavering commitment despite consistent challenges and struggles. Throughout this journey, the Group has remained steadfast in its mission, to sincerely serve the Deen of Allah with sincerity, perseverance, and trust in Him.
The establishment of One Deen Group in the regions marks a significant milestone in achieving one of the Group's long-term objectives: ensuring that its initiatives, programmes, and activities are no longer concentrated only in the capital, Freetown, but are extended across the entire country so that Muslims in every region can equally benefit from these initiatives and opportunities.
The launching ceremonies were witnessed by respected stakeholders from the various regions of the country. During the events, the Group also presented copies of its annual Islamic Calendar to a number of distinguished guests as part of its ongoing efforts to provide beneficial Islamic resources to Muslim communities. The ceremonies were immediately followed by the Group's first regional activity, where participants competed for qualification to the Sierra Leone Muslims Talent Show – Season 11.
Although the Founder and Chief Executive Officer was unable to personally attend due to unforeseen health reasons, he remained firm in his conviction that the launch should proceed as planned. Out of respect for the stakeholders and communities in the regions, he ensured the programme continued by appointing representatives to officiate on his behalf.
The delegation was led by Mohamed Habib Bah, a key executive member of One Deen Foundation with extensive knowledge of the operations of One Deen Group, who also serves as the Event Director of the Sierra Leone Muslims Talent Show, and Mohamed Tafsir Fofanah, the Managing Director of the renowned One Deen Educational Institute. They were strongly supported by the Regional Directors and their respective teams, who successfully organised the ceremonies in their respective regions.
The representatives comprehensively shared the vision, mission, objectives, and long-term benefits of One Deen Group with attendees. Their presentations were warmly received and generated overwhelmingly positive feedback from stakeholders and participants alike.
Currently, One Deen Group comprises four publicly registered organisations, while some remain in development and will be announced in due course. The four organisations are:
1.One Islam Media Network (formerly Sierra Leone Islamic Web)
2.One Deen Foundation
3.One Deen Educational Institute
4.Muslim Organisation for Rights, Advocacy and Justice (MORAJ)
Collectively, these organisations oversee between 10 to 15 brands, projects, and sectors, each addressing important areas of development within the Muslim community.
Each organisation was established to fill critical gaps within society that have often been overlooked but are essential for the growth and development of Muslims in Sierra Leone. The core philosophy of One Deen Group is simple: identify important initiatives that are missing from our country, especially those that will positively impact Muslims and their communities, and work tirelessly to establish and sustain them.
Every organisation within the Group is led by its own Managing or Executive Director, supported by a dedicated management team. This leadership structure empowers many Muslims with opportunities to lead, serve the Ummah, and contribute to the development of Islam according to their respective skills and expertise.
Beyond the national leadership, the Group has also established Regional Directors in the country's regions, each supported by a regional team. These teams are responsible for implementing the activities, programmes, and initiatives of the Group's organisations within their respective regions, ensuring that the impact of One Deen Group reaches communities across Sierra Leone.
The One Deen Group Board serves as the oversight and strategic leadership body. Its responsibility is to provide guidance, strengthen the capacity of each organisation, work closely with their respective heads, and ensure that the Group continues to grow with consistency, excellence, sincerity, hard work, and unwavering focus on its mission, In Shaa Allah.
The Founder and Chief Executive Officer has consistently emphasised that Sierra Leone is unlike other countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, or Malaysia, where many major Islamic institutions and initiatives already exist with established systems of support. While those countries certainly have their own challenges, Sierra Leone still has many critical gaps that require dedicated effort from its own Muslims. This remains one of the major challenges facing the Muslim community, as it reflects the need for greater institutional development and stronger Islamic initiatives across the country.
For this reason, he believes that Muslims in Sierra Leone must remain committed to developing essential institutions, programmes, and initiatives that strengthen our communities. Every meaningful initiative established today contributes towards building a stronger, more sustainable, and more complete Islamic ecosystem, not only for the present generation but also for generations yet to come.
As Muslims, we must continue striving sincerely for the sake of Allah, in service to Islam, our Muslim brothers and sisters, and for the future of Islam in our beloved nation for generations to come.
