Obituary Announcement

There is a time to serve and a time to be served. With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our dear colleague Mr. Joseph Koroma, fondly called “Josephine” amongst YWDF members, a dedicated stakeholder of the Kossoh Town community.

Joseph was a true HE4SHE Champion who rendered selfless service to Young Women in Democracy Forum and passionately championed the PANT Education Campaign in the Western Rural District of Sierra Leone. His relentless commitment to young women’s empowerment and community development will remain a lasting legacy.

This sad event occurred in the early hours of Monday, 26th January 2026. He has taken a bow and stood aside to let us continue the race, as he journeys to his final destination.

The body will be laid to rest on Tuesday, 27th January 2026. Prayers will take place at 2:00 PM at the Fullah Mosque, Worreh, Kossoh Town, and thereafter at the Kossoh Town Community Cemetery.

Sympathizers may call 099462100 or visit the bereaved family at Kossoh Town Ataya Base.

May the Almighty Allah grant him Jannah and give his family the strength to bear this great loss.

The PANT Campaign song is more than a challenge, the rhythm is intentional to making every child we cross paths with understands their rights and how they can prevent themselves from being victims of sexual pe*******on.

We joined the sponsored walk with SGBV Survivors organized.
We walked as a way of purpose and showcased our shared commitment to positive change.
Young women in Democracy Forum desires a society free from all forms of abuse against women and children.
This is achievable, let's make it happen.
Thanks to Rainbo Initiative and other partners.

Every child deserves protection from any and every form of abuse/exploitation, especially sexual abuse.
As a mother, it bleeds my heart hearing of children been molested, and painfully, not even the severity of justice given to their abusers can take away their pain, trauma and their health.
It is wise that us at Young Women in Democracy Forum are bringing the children along in our fight for their safety.
Thank you Beba Preparatory School, Kenema, for joining the PANTS song challenge.

Imagine if every child knows " the no go area" it builds their confidence to report when at risk. The goal is simple: empower the kids to identify potential abuse and report to trusted adults. We don't want our kids to be victims of sexual pe*******on.

This is how intentional we are about the PANT Campaign.
Here's our PANT Song sang in one of Sierra Leone's Local Language "Mednde".

02/12/2025

The PANTS Campaign aimed at breaking the silence around sexual violence and building a safer environment for our children, both online and offline.

The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence encourages speaking out and challenging harmful norms. PANTS Education, therefore, opens up conversations that families and schools often avoid. By normalizing body safety discussions, it breaks taboos and helps end the culture of silence that protects perpetrators. You cannot end gender-based violence without protecting children.

PANTS Education equips our youngest population with the knowledge and confidence to speak up, stay safe, and understand their rights.

As we continue the 16 Days of Activism 2025, promoting PANTS is a powerful reminder that prevention starts with education.

The "N” in PANTS (“No means No”) applies both offline and online

Children learn that they have the right to say NO to anything that makes them feel uncomfortable including:
▪️unwanted messages
▪️sexual content
▪️strangers or relatives asking for private photos
▪️manipulative online friendships etc

This reinforces digital consent and boundaries.

Join the Young Women in Democracy Forum challenge and teach a child the PANTS song in your home, schools and community.

Let's do this because... Our Kids Private Matter.

As a mother, nothing is more heartbreaking than coming online and seeing stories of 1-year-old, 5-year-olds, and other innocent children losing their lives as a result of r**e. These stories are not just painful they are emotionally draining and deeply torturing. No child deserves this.

As we Continue the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, Young Women in Democracy Forum is committed to amplifying PANTS Education online so that parents, caregivers, teachers, school administrators, and all online users can learn and share the PANTS Song.

We may not be able to reach every child but if you know the PANTS song, you can help protect your own child and empower your community to prevent sexual abuse.

Join the PANTS Song Challenge throughout the 16 Days of Activism.

Together, we can make childhood safer.
Together, we can do this... because Our Kids life and Private Matter🙌🏾

Our young women in Koinadugu District are also on this challenge.
