The Dorwontony Organization for the Aged (DoFA) provided a free medical check-up and special breakfast for the elderly at DoFA Center as part of its August 2026 outreach.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to People’s Pharmacy, Tankoro Pharmacy, Sierra Leone Allied Health Association–USA, Red Lion Bakery, James Momodu Fornah Sesay ESQ , Zainab Life Foundation, Reggy Anderson, Mrs. Victoria Manasaray, Mrs Isatu Kabbah ,Rev. Maria Mbawah, Balu Jah Dumbuya, The Baah Family and Mary Ruth Fofanah for their generous support and donations, which made this initiative a success.

Superstition Should Never Be Used to Target the Aged

Being elderly or living in poverty should never be a reason for anyone to be accused of witchcraft, abused, stigmatized, or treated as less than human.

The Dorwontony Organization for the Aged (DoFA) strongly condemns the harmful practice of labeling older people as witches. Such accusations are not only deeply degrading but can also expose vulnerable elderly persons to violence, discrimination, neglect, and social isolation.

Old age should be met with dignity, compassion, protection, and respect—not suspicion and persecution.

DoFA calls on families, communities, traditional leaders, and the relevant authorities to stand against all forms of abuse and harmful superstition targeting older people. Our elderly deserve to live their later years in safety, dignity, and peace.

Let us protect our elders.
Let us respect our elders.
Let us end the stigmatization of the aged.
