Becoming Unapologetically Yourself in a World That Wants You Smaller

One of the most powerful moments at Feminist Forge was our Sister Circle facilitated by the incredible Madam Ariana. Through her wisdom, authenticity, and engaging facilitation, she guided participants on a transformative journey of embracing their true selves and taking up space unapologetically.

Madam Ariana brought an infectious energy that lit up the room from the moment she began. Her words resonated deeply, creating a safe and empowering space for reflection, growth, and connection. She challenged us to reject limitations, own our voices, and walk boldly in our purpose.

More than a session, it was an experience that left a lasting mark on everyone present. She uplifted spirits, inspired confidence, and reminded us that our strength lies in showing up as our full, authentic selves.

Thank you, Madam Ariana, for pouring into our community, igniting courage, and leaving our participants feeling empowered, seen, and ready to embrace their power without apology. πŸ’œβœŠπŸΎ

Young Women Leading with the Internet

One of the most inspiring conversations at Feminist Forge 2.0 brought together remarkable young women who are harnessing the power of the internet to lead change, amplify voices, and transform their communities.

Moderated by a dynamic young leader, Aisha, a Pharmacy student making an impact both on campus and within her community, the panel featured an incredible lineup of changemakers:

Umu Alberta Kamara – Founder and Executive Director, Prevention First Initiative

Bountouraby Soumah – Youth Advisory Panel Coordinator, Plan International Guinea

Esther Tholley – President, Gender Studies Department, Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone

The discussion explored the realities of leading in a digital age, where opportunities and challenges often exist side by side. From advocacy and community organizing to leadership and personal branding, the panelists shared honest reflections on navigating online spaces as young women leaders.

While the internet presents immense opportunities to learn, connect, mobilize, and influence change, it also comes with risks, barriers, and responsibilities. The conversation highlighted that with wisdom, intentionality, resilience, and care, young women can successfully navigate these spaces and use them as powerful tools for impact.

The session was a reminder that young women are not just participating in the digital world, they are shaping it, redefining leadership, and building movements that extend far beyond borders.

When young women lead online and offline, communities thrive.

THE FEMINIST MANIFESTO IS COMING.

What happens when young feminist leaders, activists, organizers, creatives, peacebuilders, and allies come together with one shared vision for justice, equality, dignity, freedom, and transformation?

They create a movement. They create a declaration. They create a Manifesto.

This Monday, we will officially unveil the Young Sierra Leonean Feminist Manifesto, a powerful collective statement that captures the voices, aspirations, commitments, and demands of young feminist leaders across Sierra Leone.

Inside, you will discover:
The commitments of stakeholders, partners, and donors toward advancing gender equality.

The realities, experiences, and priorities of young women and girls.

A bold vision for justice, inclusion, accountability, and collective liberation.

A call to action for everyone committed to building a more equal and equitable society.

This document is a reflection of lived experiences, a roadmap for change, and a reminder that young women are not only the leaders of tomorrow; they are leaders today.

Available online this Monday.

Join us as we amplify the voices of young feminist leaders and share a collective commitment to a future where every woman and girl can thrive.

What does it mean to be a man in a society that often teaches boys to suppress emotions, avoid vulnerability, and equate strength with dominance?

At Feminist Forge 2.0, participants engaged in a powerful session on Positive Masculinity facilitated by Kadiat from Guinea, whose work in mental health and wellbeing brought a unique and important perspective to the conversation.

The session challenged harmful stereotypes that place unrealistic expectations on boys and young men and explored how these norms can negatively affect not only girls and women, but also the mental health, relationships, and personal growth of men themselves. Participants reflected on how positive masculinity encourages empathy, accountability, respect, emotional intelligence, and healthy expressions of manhood.

Building gender-equal societies requires us to reimagine masculinity in ways that promote care rather than control, partnership rather than power, and respect rather than discrimination. When boys and young men are given the space to unlearn harmful norms and embrace healthier models of masculinity, they become stronger allies in advancing gender equality and creating safer communities for everyone.

At She-Empowerment League, we believe that achieving gender justice requires engaging all members of society. Through platforms like Feminist Forge, we are creating spaces where girls, young women, boys, and young men can collectively examine social norms, challenge inequalities, and become champions of positive change.

Thank you, Kadiat, for leading this insightful discussion and for helping us understand that positive masculinity is not only essential for gender equality, it is also critical for healthier individuals, stronger relationships, and more inclusive communities.

Re-imagining the future of feminist leadership starts here.

We are still unpacking the wisdom from Kaata Komeh Minah's deep dive breakout session at Feminist Forge 2.0. She challenged every young leader in the room to think deeper, resist harder, and imagine bolder futures for girls across Africa.

Hello, June!

A new month is here, and with it comes new opportunities to learn, grow, connect, and thrive.

As we step into June, we are filled with gratitude for the success of Feminist Forge 2.0 and energized for what lies ahead. While the Forge may be over, the work continues.

This month, we have so much in store for the girls and young women we serve, more opportunities for learning, leadership, mentorship, empowerment, advocacy, and meaningful engagement. We remain committed to creating spaces where girls and young women can build their confidence, strengthen their voices, develop new skills, and unlock their full potential.

June is a reminder that empowerment is not a one-time event; it is a continuous journey. And we are excited to continue that journey together.

To every girl and young woman in our community: keep dreaming, keep leading, keep showing up, and keep believing in your power.

Here’s to a month of growth, impact, and endless possibilities. πŸ’œ

Policy is not just about documents and decisions. It is about power, participation, and whose voices are heard.

At Feminist Forge 2.0, participants engaged in a thought-provoking Fireside Chat with Madam Eleanor Thompson, one of our able Board members at She-Empowerment League and a public interest lawyer, Founder and Managing Lead of Citizens Barray, on the topic β€œLet’s Talk Policy.”

The conversation challenged us to confront an important reality: young people are often excluded from policy and decision-making spaces not by accident, but through structures that have historically limited their influence. Madam Eleanor encouraged participants to think beyond consultation and tokenism and imagine a future where young women are genuinely embedded in governance spaces, shaping policies that affect their lives and communities.

From civic engagement and accountability to representation and leadership, the session highlighted why young women must move from being subjects of policy to architects of change.

As we continue re-imagining feminist power in a transforming world, one message stood out clearly: meaningful participation is not a privilege, it is a necessity. Because policies are stronger, more inclusive, and more impactful when young women have a seat at the table and a voice in the decisions being made.

The conversation was the spark. The action we take next is the fire. πŸ”₯
