Communications Unit | MoGCA
17th March, 2026 | New York
Hon. Dr. Isata Mahoi, Minister of Gender and Childrenβs Affairs, today shared Sierra Leoneβs progress in implementing Spotlight Initiative 2.0 at the 70th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women in New York.
Through a targeted, data-driven approach, Sierra Leone is addressing violence against women and girls in priority communities across all districts nationwide. The initiative brings together Government, UN agencies, civil society, and community leaders to strengthen laws, improve survivor services, and challenge harmful social norms.
Our focus includes closing legal gaps, strengthening enforcement, building the capacity of frontline responders, and expanding the use of GBVIMS+ for evidence-based interventions.
The Minister emphasized that lasting change requires sustained investment, strong government leadership, and community ownership.
Sierra Leone remains committed to building a future where every woman and girl lives free from violence.
