MY POSITION ON THE PROPOSED CABLE CAR PROJECT IN FREETOWN

As an environmentalist, naturalist, climate activist, and citizen of Sierra Leone, I want to respectfully but firmly express my strong opposition to the proposed introduction of a cable car system.

Freetown is facing serious environmental and urban-management challenges that require urgent attention. Across the city, we continue to see waste dumped in drains, gutters, roadsides, waterways and underneath bridges. Poor waste management, pollution, flooding, deforestation, uncontrolled development and pressure on our natural environment remain major concerns.
At a time when these problems are still affecting communities, I believe your priority as Mayor of freetown should be a cleaner, safer, healthier and more sustainable Freetownโ€”not a costly and unproven transportation cabe car project. We don't want it. Presently we are struggling with energy.

Madam Mayor, Freetown needs attention to its environment.
Clean the drains.
Improve waste collection and disposal.
Protect our wetlands and waterways.
Address illegal dumping.
Improve drainage and flood management.
Keep public spaces clean.
Strengthen environmental education.
Create a culture where citizens understand that protecting the environment is everyone's responsibility.

These are not small issues. They directly affect public health, flooding, sanitation, biodiversity and the future resilience of our city.

Clean Freetown first. Protect Freetown's environment.

Freetown belongs to all of us.
We want development, but development that is safe, sustainable, and responsive to the real needs of our people.
We don't want development at the expense of our environment.

Clean Freetown first. Protect Freetown's environment.

I strongly oppose the proposed cable car project in Freetown. We don't want it. We want sustainable and affordable land means of transportation in Freetown Sierra Leone

๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒฑ A NEW GENERATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL CHAMPIONS IS RISING! ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒ
We are delighted to share moments from the launching of the Modern High School Nature Club and International School Nature Club.
These launches mark another important step in our commitment to empowering young people with knowledge and practical action for climate change, environmental protection, nature conservation, biodiversity and renewable energy.
Through our Schools Nature Clubs, pupils will have the opportunity to learn about the environment, express their ideas, participate in environmental activities, plant and care for trees, reduce waste, protect nature and become responsible environmental stewards in their schools and communities. ๐ŸŒณ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ’
We sincerely appreciate the school authorities, teachers, pupils, Nature Club coordinators and everyone who contributed to making these launches successful.
The future of our planet depends on what we teach and inspire today.
๐ŸŒฑ Educate. Inspire. Protect. Act.
๐ŸŒ Together, let us protect nature for present and future generations.

My Prediction โ€” A Warning for Our Oceans
The ocean is warming, and it is becoming increasingly polluted by plastic and other human waste. As carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases continue to build up in our atmosphere, more heat is trapped within our planetโ€™s climate system, putting enormous pressure on marine life.
My prediction is a warning: if global warming and ocean pollution continue at their current pace, by 2050 many coral reefs could face severe and repeated bleaching, with some reefs potentially losing their ability to survive.
Coral reefs are not just beautiful ecosystems. They provide homes for marine life, support coastal communities, and help protect our coastlines.
But the future of our oceans is still in our hands.
We must reduce plastic pollution, protect marine habitats, restore damaged ecosystems, and urgently reduce greenhouse-gas emissions.
Protect the ocean today, and we protect life for tomorrow.

**A GIANT ICEBERG TOWERS OVER THE COAST OF NEWFOUNDLAND ๐ŸงŠ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ**

Imagine looking out toward the ocean and seeing a massive iceberg towering over the landscape!

This breathtaking scene was captured near Little Harbour, just a few kilometres from Twillingate, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canadaโ€”an area famous for its spectacular views of Iceberg Alley.

The enormous iceberg, reported to rise roughly 150 feet above the water, appears to dwarf a nearby house, creating an almost surreal contrast between human life and the immense power of nature.

Icebergs regularly drift through this part of the North Atlantic, with many originating from glaciers in Greenland before being carried southward by ocean currents toward Newfoundland. Twillingate is renowned for its spectacular iceberg viewing, and giant ice formations can sometimes pass surprisingly close to shore.

Standing beside a giant of ice like this is a powerful reminder of just how small we are compared with the forces of nature.

A truly breathtaking view of Newfoundland's wild and beautiful coastline. ๐ŸงŠ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

Remembering August 14, 2017
On August 14, 2017, Freetown witnessed one of the most devastating landslides in Sierra Leoneโ€™s history, leaving deep scars on families, communities and our nation.
As we remember the lives lost and the communities affected, we must also reflect on the environmental lessons behind this tragedy. Deforestation, unplanned settlements, land degradation, poor drainage and the increasing impacts of climate change can make communities more vulnerable to disasters.
I was recently interviewed on Amaze TV about my documentary on the August 14, 2017 Freetown landslides. In the interview, I shared reflections on the tragedy, the environmental challenges facing Freetown, and the urgent need for stronger action to protect our forests, hillsides, wetlands and communities.
๐ŸŽฅ Watch the interview and documentary video.
Let us remember the victims.
Let us learn from the past.
Let us protect our natural environment.
Let us build a safer and more resilient Sierra Leone.
Never forget August 14, 2017. ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐ŸŒ
