Sierra Leonean journalists need to be more skillful with their interviews.

If Chief Minister David Sengeh says he doesn't know his salary, simple ask him who signs on the monthly salary payslip or the entire payroll for his office.

And if he says he just signs without reading, ask him if that's how he signs on all other documents. If he says he doesn't sign a salary payslip, ask him if that's the accountability system he wants the public finance sector to practice.

Either ways, we all know he knows his salary but he doesn't just want to say it.

Nobody on earth works for pay on a monthly basis who doesn't know his salary. We may not know the decimals, but we know the substantive figure.

In the words of Prof. PLO Lumumba, African political leaders just want their appointees to appear to be delivering on their political promises and NOT necessarily to deliver. As soon as anyone starts delivering on real terms, there is cabinet reshuffle to bring in a the hardcore political interest-seekers.

We all saw how the the two outstanding ministers - of Finance and Foreign Affairs, based on the Government's own very performance assessment, have been weeded out from their seats.

Again, it was never about service delivery, rather it was about who can best seek the interest of political cartel.
