The held its first cervical and breast cancer in-country workshop in Nairobi on July 10 -11 2024. Co-convened by the World Economic Forum and Siemens Healthineers, in collaboration with the The Ministry of Health Kenya, the workshop was an engaging and fruitful exercise, with broad participation from private and public sector stakeholders on the gaps and challenges plaguing effective prevention and management of cervical and breast cancers in Kenya.

At a meeting with Her Excellency President Samia Suluhu Hassan during the Africa Leaders Summit in Washington DC in December 2022, she invited Varian, a Siemens Healthineers company to Tanzania, to work with her government on a plan to expand access to care for cancer patients in Tanzania.

It was my delight to represent Varian at the just concluded Tanzania - US Investor’s Forum on the Future of Cancer Care in Africa, where I highlighted our ongoing partnerships with Ocean Road Cancer Institute in Dar Es Salam, and Good Samaritan Cancer Hospital in Ifakara, as well as our ongoing engagement with the Ministry of Health on expanding access to care.

Our linear accelerators and HDR brachytherapy unit in the country are treating hundreds of cancer patients daily. We are looking forward to driving the ongoing engagements with the government to the finish line, to deliver on the promise and vision of expanding access to cancer care in Tanzania as expressed by Her Excellency during the meeting in Washington DC.
