Today we celebrate strength.
Not the loud kind.
The quiet kind.

The strength of mothers who sacrifice in silence.
The courage of girls who dare to dream bigger than their circumstances.
The resilience of women who rise again after every setback.

Women are not just part of the story.
They are the foundation of families, communities, and nations.

When you empower a woman,
you empower generations.

Today, let us not only celebrate women,
let us respect, support, and uplift them every day.

Happy International Women’s Day to every woman making the world better, one step at a time. 💜

The streets are full of young people with dreams that were never supported.

Some are begging in traffic.
Some are lost in drugs.
Some have simply given up.

But the truth is this:

Many of them never had guidance, opportunity, or skills.

At Focused Youth Advocacy Network (FYAN) we believe every young person deserves a chance.

A chance to learn.
A chance to grow.
A chance to succeed.

Because when youth are focused, the future becomes brighter.

“Begging is better than stealing.”

Someone commented this on my page, and honestly, they are not wrong.

Yes, begging is better than crime.
Yes, it is safer than stealing.

But should those really be the only two options for our youth?

When the standard becomes “at least they are not stealing,” it means we have already lowered our expectations.

Our young people deserve more than survival choices.
More than traffic money.
More than quick cash.

They deserve:
• Skills
• Direction
• Mentorship
• Real opportunities

The goal is not to shame anyone.
The goal is to raise the standard.

Better than stealing? Yes.
But still not good enough for the future we want.

What do you think? Are we setting the bar too low for our youth?

Giving small money in traffic helps for a moment.

But what if we helped someone learn a skill instead?
What if we supported mentorship programs?
What if we invested in youth training centers?

Sympathy feeds today.
Empowerment feeds tomorrow.

Let’s shift the conversation.

Sometimes when I stop in traffic and see a young person begging, I don’t see a nuisance.

I see someone’s child.

Someone who once had dreams.
Someone who once sat in a classroom.
Someone who once believed life would be different.

What happened along the way?

Before we judge, maybe we should ask deeper questions.

Our youth are not born to beg.
Something is breaking them.

START SMALL. GROW STRONG.

Every big business you see today started small.
Selling water.
Fixing phones.
Driving bikes.
Farming a small land.

The difference?
They didn’t stop.

Young people don’t need permission to succeed, they need direction and discipline.

DEGREE WITHOUT SKILL IS NOT ENOUGH

School is important.
But skill is survival.

Many young people in Sierra Leone are succeeding without offices, suits, or air-conditioners — just consistency and courage.

🔧 Learn something practical
📈 Grow it small
💰 Reinvest
⏳ Be patient

Success doesn’t announce itself early.

NOT EVERY SUCCESS STORY WEARS A TIE

In Sierra Leone, waiting only for a white-collar job can keep you waiting forever.
But learning a skill can feed you now.

Carpenters, drivers, traders, farmers, technicians, creatives — many are earning daily while others wait for appointment letters.

Office job is one path.
Skill work is another path.
Both are valid.

Start where you are.
Use what you have.

SUCCESS IN SIERRA LEONE IS NOT ONLY IN THE OFFICE 🇸🇱

Dear young people,
Let’s change the narrative.

In Sierra Leone, success is not limited to white-collar jobs. Not everyone will work in an office — and that’s okay. Some of the most successful young people today are winning with their hands, skills, ideas, and hustle.

Mechanics
Technicians
Tailors
Phone repairers
Aluminum Fabricators
Buklders
Drivers & transport owners
Farmers & agribusiness youth
Traders & small business owners
Creatives & digital workers

They didn’t wait for government jobs.
They didn’t wait for connections.
They started with what they had and learned as they grew.

Skill + Discipline + Consistency = Income
Income + Vision = Growth
Growth + Time = Success

A degree is good.
A skill is powerful.
Both together are unstoppable.

Stop waiting to be employed.
Start learning. Start building. Start earning.

Your future is in your hands — literally.

✊🏽 FYAN believes in empowered youth, not dependent youth.

HIS NAME WAS JOSHUA MANSARAY 🕯️
Joshua Mansaray was not a thief.
He was a graduate.
He spent four years at the university, worked hard, and earned his degree.
A few days ago, Joshua went out with friends to support another friend’s business at Youyi Building — just young people encouraging one another, as friends do.
On his way back, he stopped at Lodge Junction, Brookfields, to buy water. He parked his motorbike on the busy street. When he returned, he couldn’t find his key.
That moment of confusion changed everything.
People assumed.
People accused.
And without asking questions or calling the police, a crowd took the law into their own hands.
Joshua lost his life — not because he committed a crime, but because of mistaken identity and mob justice.
This is not just Joshua's story.
It is a painful reminder that mob violence destroys innocent lives, families, and futures.

Let’s say it clearly:
Suspects are not criminals.
Assumptions are not proof.
Mob justice is not justice.
May Joshua rest in peace. 🕊️
And may we, as a society, choose humanity, patience, and the rule of law over anger and violence.
