The Sierra Leone Book Trust (SALBOT) was delighted to host Judith Henderson, Senior Programmes and Partnerships Manager at Book Aid International, on the 15th July,
2026. The crowning moments of her working visit were programme-centered conversations, monitoring visits to book recipient schools and a tour of the book warehouse.
Thank you, Judith, for your productive working visit and wonderful rapport with the teachers/pupils. We value your insights and look forward to our continued partnership with Book Aid International.

The Sierra Leone Book Trust (SALBOT) was honoured with a visitation from the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Book Aid International (BAI), Alison Tweed, on the 20th of February, 2026. It is believed that regular working visits are essential for strategic partnerships, as BAI often does.

We pride ourselves on transforming the literacy and educational landscape in ‘Salone” through capacity building, school library programmes, and access to quality and up-to-date books.
SALBOT and BAI are committed to building and growing a strong partnership. We were very happy with the fruitful discussions.

The highlight of the working visit was interacting with beneficiaries of the United Methodist Church Primary School Explorer Library, Madonkeh , Western Area Rural District.

Many thanks to BAI for the partnership; we believe that together we can achieve so much more and will continue to serve the people of ‘Salone”

📚 Welcome to the Reading & Literacy Station — Building Leadership Through Literature!

More than just a collection of books, this vibrant space sparked imagination, strengthened confidence, and opened doors to discovery. Participants explored captivating science stories, inspiring leadership texts, creative arts, and culturally relevant literature connected to every field of study.

From engaging read-aloud sessions to interactive vocabulary games and exciting quizzes, our young leader’s fluency, public speaking skills, and confidence, are sharpened with every page they turned, and with every coaching.

At ScileadFest2026, we believe reading is the foundation for success. Strong readers become strong leaders — developing critical thinking, powerful communication, creativity, and the confidence to lead boldly.

SIERRA LEONE BOOK TRUST (SALBOT) cares about public, school, community and academic libraries to support exciting learning opportunities through books. SALBOT works with the leadership of educational institutions to make this possible. We were excited to distribute thousands of brand-new books across the country in the month of October 2025 to 18 schools, 2 colleges, 1 chiefdom administration, 1 literacy organisation and 1 international volunteer organisation. Books For Africa and SALBOT are committed to making a difference in the lives of our young and youthful population in Sierra Leone through continuous access to relevant and brand-new books

I’m humbled to receive an award from the Association of Mass Communicators, University of Makeni (UNIMAK), on the 20th of August, 2025. It is great to be recognised individually for the relentless service in the areas of literacy, education, library development and book programmes. However, I would not go this far without my team from Sierra Leone Book Trust (SALBOT), the Board and partners (Books For Africa, Schools For Salone, Book Aid International, and Programme For Children). I thank you all for supporting me in this journey. Many thanks to the Association of Mass Communicators, UNIMAK, for choosing me for this award.

Hurray!! Sierra Leone Book Trust (SALBOT), working together with Books For Africa, is set for the new school year (2025/26) to take learners through the journey of greatness. We hope to make this journey successful through our relevant book support to schools/colleges, a key resource to unlock the world of education and a better life.Thank you so much, Books For Africa, for supporting literacy and education through the provision of brand-new books to Mama Salone (Sierra Leone).
