Sexual and Gender-Based Violence is a violation of human rights.

Too many women, girls—and increasingly, boys and men—suffer in silence due to stigma, fear, or lack of justice.

Sierra Leone has strong laws in place, like the Domestic Violence Act (2007) and the Sexual Offences Act (2012, amended 2019), and a special court was created under the 2019 State of Emergency on R**e. But laws alone are not enough.

We need stronger enforcement, survivor support systems, and community action to break the cycle of violence.

⚖️ Demand justice.

Together, we can build a safer, more just society for all.

Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) is a national crisis.
Despite strong laws like the Domestic Violence Act (2007) and the Sexual Offences Act (2012, amended 2019), countless survivors are still denied justice due to weak enforcement and social stigma.

In 2019, the Government declared a State of Emergency on R**e, introducing tougher penalties and a dedicated Special Court. Yet, implementation remains slow, and too many cases fall through the cracks.

It's time for real action.
Accountability. Access to justice. Protection for survivors.
Let’s stand together to demand stronger enforcement and an end to impunity.

Today was truly inspiring🥰 Choices and Voices Foundation for Women and Girls hosted a one-day girl’s empowerment workshop on advocacy and raising public awareness for adolescent girls from Jui and Grafton Communities.

It was an incredible opportunity to empower these teenage girls with the necessary skills and ability to advocate for their rights and the rights of other adolescent girls in their communities. Thanks to BMZ through medica mondiale e. V. for making the dreams of these girls a reality.
