With support from Christian Aid Sierra Leone, The Inter-Religious Council of Sierra held a one-day national workshop focused on strengthening the role of religious leaders and faith actors in promoting gender equality and women’s economic rights through faith-based messages and community engagement. The workshop brought together Christian and Muslim faith leaders, government actors, youth, and women from across the country.
Sessions explored gender equality and equity, women’s rights in religious contexts, and systemic barriers limiting women’s economic empowerment. Participants also examined the powerful role of faith leaders in shaping attitudes and behaviors, engaged in practical sermon and message development, and held group discussions on economic challenges faced by women and faith-based responses to close existing gaps.
Together, we reaffirmed faith leadership as a catalyst for justice, dignity, and economic inclusion for women.

Reparative Justice: Reframing Workshop for Religious Leaders
The Inter-Religious Council of Sierra Leone, with support from Christian Aid, successfully convened a Reparative Justice Reframing Workshop for religious leaders across the South, East, Northwest, and Northeast regions of the country.
The workshop aimed to deepen faith leaders’ understanding of reparative justice and its relevance to social transformation. Key sessions explored the concept of reparative justice, its gender dimensions, faith-based perspectives on women’s empowerment, and practical tools for advocacy and implementation. Participants engaged in group discussions and action planning, strengthening their commitment to promote justice, equity, and dignity within their communities.
This initiative reinforces the vital role of religious leaders in advancing inclusive justice, gender equality, and community-led change across Sierra Leone.

The Inter-Religious Council of Sierra Leone successfully concluded its regional dialogue with impactful radio discussions on peacebuilding and violence prevention across the regions. Christian and Muslim leaders shared insights on addressing drivers of violence, strengthening community harmony, and empowering youth as agents of peace. Radio served as an inclusive platform to raise awareness, encourage public dialogue, promote positive behavioural change, and reinforce the Council’s commitment to unity, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence across Sierra Leone. Interfaith dialogue in action for peace, unity, and national cohesion
With support from CAFOD, the IRCSL team successfully facilitated interfaith dialogue sessions and community engagement events across Bo, Makeni, Kenema, and Port Loko, bringing together Muslim and Christian leaders, youth, women, CSOs, community leaders, and government actors. The dialogues strengthened social cohesion, enhanced understanding of conflict drivers, early warning signs, and peaceful response mechanisms, and countered misinformation and socio-economic grievances. With 60 participants actively engaged, the sessions reinforced the critical leadership role of youth and women in peacebuilding. Participants committed to joint action, community sensitization, regular interfaith engagement, and collaboration with local authorities to promote peaceful coexistence and inclusive development.
