HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY

On this Independence Day, Beckma Empowerment Initiative urges all citizens to embrace a higher definition of freedom, liberation from poor waste management and environmental neglect.

Independence is not only a historical achievement; it is measured by how responsibly we protect our surroundings, preserve public health, and secure a sustainable future for generations ahead.

The reality of unmanaged waste continues to pose serious risks. It obstructs drainage networks, intensifies flooding, fuels the spread of disease, and slows down national development and resilience.

As an organization committed to environmental action and community empowerment, we stand for collective responsibility and practical solutions:
Encouraging disciplined and responsible waste disposal practices Driving community-led sanitation and environmental clean-up initiatives Advocating for effective enforcement of environmental regulations Promoting innovative and sustainable approaches to waste reduction and recycling

This Independence Day should inspire more than reflection, it should inspire decisive action.

Environmental cleanliness is not optional; it is a national duty shared by all.

Together, we can redefine independence through responsibility, discipline, and environmental respect. 🇸🇱

Meet Our Founder and Executive Director,Miss Ruth Nennh 😊
I’ve come to the realization that a person who is thriving in purpose is much closer to hope and to what the future holds. There was a point in my life when I almost gave up on so many things. After I lost my mom in 2013, life took me down a road I never imagined I had the strength to walk. It was a complete U-turn, one that I initially found very difficult to navigate.

However, amid the years of pain and hardship, God showed up. He gave me the strength to navigate through the storm and positioned me for change. I was willing to change and that made all the difference.
My journey toward healing began when I started my first volunteering experience with World Merld Flesh Sierra Leone, where I served as a teacher for pupils living in the Kroobay Community. Those years of working with those children became a powerful step in my emotional healing. Through them, I found purpose, restoration, and renewed hope.

In 2018, I was given another opportunity to attend a 10-day training organized by the Center for Coordination of Youth Activities (CCYA) in partnership with ActionAid Sierra Leone, funded by the European Union. For me, this was not just a training,it was a life-changing experience. It shaped my personal growth, strengthened my sense of societal responsibility, encouraged inclusivity, and positioned me to face life’s challenges with a positive mindset.
From that training, I was challenged to break the cycle of poverty and become an inspiration rather than a victim, regardless of the difficulties I was facing. I made a bold promise to myself: I would be the change. I decided that I would not give my body for money or opportunities. Instead, I would pursue everything I desired with dignity one of those dreams being earning a university degree.
Today, I am😊🙏:
A Child Advocate in Sierra Leone
A Certified Mental Health Youth Ambassador awarded by Global Youth Network for Empowerment and Development
A Bachelor’s Degree holder in PLSCM !
